Changed my mindset. I have moderated alcohol for some time (after excessive drinking in my 20s). Now in my late 30s I continued to scale back but still felt that cognitive dissonance she talks about in the book. Moderating took constant thought and effort (setting days I could drink & drink limits/types). Although I was successful (in that I stuck to my rules), it was not enjoyable. After listening to this book I feel freer than I have since my first drink 20 years ago. Making up my mind to just not drink feels like a weight lifted. 9 days in & excited to use the tools in this book at a concert this evening & a lake trip this weekend!

I felt like this was a wonderful, comprehensive overview of the most common arguments against Christian faith. Responses were explained in a thoughtful, biblical way. I appreciated the care and thoroughness that was given to each topic. Will definitely be listening to/reading this many times again.

Story
Many Christians assume "pleasure" and "sin" are synonymous. Others define godly pleasure so narrowly that they drastically minimize the powerful and holy role that pleasure can play in their lives. Still others feel guilty even thinking about how to build a life of pleasure. For all of them, Pure Pleasure provides an entirely new paradigm. It invites Christians to embrace a life of true pleasure as a pathway to obedience, worship, and service

This book read like a warm hug & love letter from God. It confirmed & validated thoughts I’ve had my whole life but could never put words to. I’m grateful to have this more full view of our Father to share with my children and friends.

Felt that this book was more interested in "proving" it's theory than providing actionable advice.
