About this listen

This Naked Mind has ignited a movement across the country, helping thousands of people forever change their relationship with alcohol.

Many people question whether drinking has become too big a part of their lives and worry that it may even be affecting their health. But they resist change because they fear losing the pleasure and stress relief associated with alcohol and assume giving it up will involve deprivation and misery.

This Naked Mind offers a new, positive solution. Here, Annie Grace clearly presents the psychological and neurological components of alcohol use based on the latest science and reveals the cultural, social, and industry factors that support alcohol dependence in all of us. Packed with surprising insight into the reasons we drink, this book will open your eyes to the startling role of alcohol in our culture and how the stigma of alcoholism and recovery keeps people from getting the help they need. With Annie's own extraordinary and candid personal story at its heart, this book is a must-listen for anyone who drinks.

This Naked Mind will give you freedom from alcohol. It removes the psychological dependence so that you will not crave alcohol, allowing you to easily drink less (or stop drinking). With clarity, humor, and a unique blend of science and storytelling, This Naked Mind will open the door to the life you have been waiting for.

Another Paradigm Shifted!

There have a handful of powerful paradigm shifts that I have had in my life over this last couple years. My husband and I took control over our finances with amazing teachers like Dave Ramsey and the Chose Fi community. We are now comfortable with going against social norms when it comes to debt and lifestyle inflation or “keeping up with the Jones’s.” In the beginning of 2021 we started a healthy body journey and completely changed our eating habits. Embracing a low carb/sugar lifestyle has also bucked the system of social norms. We have both gotten to our goal weights and are content to continue with this new way of eating. Although we lost the desired weight and live an active lifestyle we have continued to drink alcohol along the way. We switched from mixed drinks & dark beers to more sophisticated zero carb drinks like whiskey on the rocks or neat. We felt justified in our decision to treat ourselves with a nightly drink or two while watching TV. I have personally been noticing a shift in my relationship with alcohol over these past ten plus years. After reading countless books, listening to countless podcasts on KETO, bio hacking and finances I was able to easily shift my thinking in these areas. I was given new information that forever changed the way I viewed sugar or saving rate and debt. In December 2021 just about five days before Christmas something happened that changed my mind about alcohol. I cannot pinpoint exactly what it was however, I was tired of making promises to myself about not drinking and then by five o’clock I had a whiskey or red wine in my hand. I was waking up sweating and my heart racing in the middle of the night and it started to scare me. As much as I’ve learned about the danger of putting too much sugar into my body I was willingly putting poison in my body on almost a daily basis. I would walk around the next day functioning well but feeling like my brain was in a fog. After loosing almost 40 pounds I felt like I should be feeling fantastic and I was not. This hit me hard as I thought about taking my night time vitamins before bed after drinking 4-6 ounces of whiskey. Was the alcohol negating all the good I was trying to accomplish in my health? It’s kind of humorous that I went a whole year loosing weight and eating a healthy diet, taking vitamins & supplements and then drinking poison. On December 20, 2021 I told my husband I no longer wanted to drink and I haven’t. I started listening to a Christian podcast called Sober Sisterhood. It was this podcast that led me to the Naked Mind podcast. I started to devour your podcast- starting in Chronological order of course. I was given Audible credits for my birthday in January and got your book! My husband has always been my biggest supporter and we’ve experienced all of these paradigm shifts together. We listened to the book together while walking our dog Waffles. He has stopped drinking with me but hasn’t yet decided if he is done forever. I respect his decision and know that for me the knowledge that I have gotten from listening to This Naked Mind has forever changed my paradigm surrounding alcohol. I no longer desire to drink or put something into my body that is so toxic. I no longer what to cringe when I look at the amount of money we willingly spent on sophisticated whiskey each month. I no longer want to question if the vitamins & supplements I take are even being absorbed or utilized while taking them after drinking. I no longer want to use my time or energy thinking about alcohol I have more important things to accomplish in this life. I may be 46 but it is never too late for another positive paradigm shift!

A life changing experience

An essential book for anyone who drinks. Narration too fast in beginning but gets better.

Living a life of joy

I bought the book for a friend, but wanted to listen to it so I could help. The book changed me. I’d never thought about me being addicted at any drink-perhaps the next drink. I’ve made the decision to be alcohol free and live a life of true joy.
And I truly thank you for that!

I woke up one day with a nasty hangover wondering why I can't just have one glass of wine. I read almost the entire book in one sitting and haven't touched the stuff since. it reverse brainwashed me! I wish this book existed for everything in my life from sugar cravings to imposter syndrome.

Good but the over emoting can be tiresome

Highly recommend this book, and audiobook. The only negative I have is that the author can emote a lot during the reading and it honestly got under my skin a little? However beyond that this is a great book if you want to kick drinking.
