The first thing to grab my attention to Demon Copperhead (outside of Barbara Kingsolver) was a review from a reader, and it tickled my deeper interest. When I began listening to the narration, I laughed out loud! The review had made mention of a difficult-to-listen-to, terrible hillbilly accent. Oh honey, I thought to myself, you have no earthly idea! The accent we have down there's so very much more southern, with much more drawl, longer words that should be a single syllable drawn out into multiples! While the narrator did an excellent job with his words, two of them gave him away as a non-native. I can't recall the first word, but the second was the town of Richlands, pronounced by Mr. Thurston as Richlnds - it's actually Rich-Lands to us. Growing up in southwest Virginia, in Tazewell County (bringing to mind the 'Tazewell tractor'), trust me, I know (and say it so!). The narration, as I said, it excellent, and kept my attention from start to finish.

As always, Ms. Kingsolver knitted a wonderful book, and darned if she didn't take me back to earlier times, and the things I saw and experienced growing up in that area. I could well imagine the hardships faced by a youth trying desperately to scrabble out of such a bleak existence. I highly recommend this book, the narrator, and the author!

I was glad to see an audio book by Ted Dekker, as I always enjoy his books. what a treat to listen to one, foe a change! Sadly, though, I wasted my money. The narrator is very much overly dramatic, and I frequently found myself mocking the dramatic enunciation, completely distracted from the storyline. This was not at all what I expected from one of Mr. Dekker's books, and I did not hesitate to return the second of the series. I'm so sad!

As I'm more for a storyline, not sex, I skipped a couple of chapters. The sex portions I did listen to made me wonder if the author isn't really a male writing under a nom de plume. Ugh; I skipped on. A prude I may be called, but the abundance of foul language, I felt, was overmuch.

it was a pretty good story, and the narrators were great.

I had a really great time as a southern woman listening to the kiwi dialect, imagining what it must be like for him to listen to my relatively deep southern drawl. I live this man's voice, pro/enunciation! The books themselves are very good,, and kept me entranced.. I have not yet looked, but i would love to explore more of his works. Thanks so much for the story, and the most excellent narrator!

I almost didn't select this title, but decided to, as Jodi Picoult is a very talented author! Sure enough, her story held true to form - almost. I appreciate the importance she wanted me to glean from each chapter's song, I do. It's a great idea, except not for me. I found after forcing myself to listen to half the third track I was irritated. I wanted the book. I didn't want acoustic music, in spite of loving music. I didn't want song. I didn't appreciate the close-to-country genre, as I truly have to be in the mood for a few types of music, this being one. The performer's great, has a lovely voice. Please, though. Keep your songs at the end, maybe, instead of interspersed.

The storyline is good, and pretty quickly drew me in (until the beginning of the next chapter threw my attention to the wind unnecessarily). I was shocked at the narrow-mindedness of people, realizing it to be often true, and how unnecessarily hurtful people can be. Religion should never be used as a weapon, but I suppose that happens much more often than I had ever considered. Thanks, Ms. Picault, for a pretty good read!

Oh my goodness, I tried very hard to listen to this book, as I enjoy Michener's writing, and learn so much from each work I read, or listen to. This book, though, I knew within the first 45 seconds I needed to bump up the narrator's speed. I valiantly fought to listen, truly, even bumping the speed up quite a bit more. Lord love him, but Larry McKeever would be a most excellent narrator for children's bedtime books. His lack of inflection is not total, but it would put the most sugar-rushed child off into dreamland in no time at all.

I am so very sad I wasted good, nonrefundable money on what is more than likely an informative, engaging, excellent novel by Mr. Mitchener. Oh please, Audible, don't use this kind narrator on Michener's books again?

I first discovered Ms Neggars' books years ago in a charming local restaurant at Smith Mountain Lake Virginia, where a lending library had come into being. She introduced me to the mystical bayous and southern mysteries, compelling me to dig even deeper in the locale, history, and secret hidden gems the south has to offer. How excited I was to find her quiet, gentle words again, in a new'-to-me part of the country!
Carla Neggars expertly weaves intrigue and suspense in this wonderful book, and easily intriduces each character's personality in depth. I highly recommend all of her books, which will keep you hooked from beginning g to end! More, please, Ms. Neggars!

I discovered Julian May's wonderful Pliocene world years ago, when I was a young teenager. I was immediately captivated by the rich characters and the wild, exotic landscape. Throw in an other-world race, and I was completely hooked!

I lost count of how many times I read this series, and was delighted to discover someone could read it to me! My only regret? Oh please, Audible, bring us the remaining books! I want to experience again the entire thrilling, amazing story!
