I’ve been following the Lost Starship series from the start, and while I’ve enjoyed a lot of it, this book didn’t really do it for me.

It feels like everywhere the crew goes, they end up with another enemy. It’s gotten to the point where it’s just too much to keep track of. Instead of building on older plotlines or characters, the story keeps piling on new threats, and it’s kind of exhausting.

Also, the whole “android imposters” thing has been overused at this point. It used to be a cool twist, but now it’s just not surprising anymore.

One thing that really bothered me was how the crew treats Galyan. This guy used to be Driving Force Galyan, basically the commander of the Victory—and now it feels like they just treat him like a piece of gear. Maddox especially is short and kind of rude to him, which doesn’t sit right with me after everything they’ve been through. You’d think there’d be more respect there.

And yeah, the way Meta is called “his woman” just felt outdated and kind of off. I like strong characters, and Meta’s one of them—she deserves better than being talked about like that.

BTW: What the hell is Maddox's first name?

The story was great, the character development was excellent, the only problem was
how it abruptly ended, with no resolution of anything. very frustrating

fantastic writing! I love the level of detail the author goes in, paints such a vivid picture at times while listening, I actually felt the fear, anxiety and stress of the morning mission briefing when a tough target was revealed, I can almost taste the shot the fliers got as they entered the post mission debriefing. The author conveyed these feelings so profoundly that I could feel the fliers emotions reaching across 80 years as if I was seating next to them.

Comer's recounting was so vivid, that at times I felt like a hand reached out and pulled me back in time. I felt as though I was on John's crew, I felt the burning in my lungs when an oxygen regulator froze up. I felt the fear and anxiety that accompanied every crew member. A fantastically written account of a bomber crew from the greatest generation!!

The writing is reminiscent of a high school composition paper. The characters are underdeveloped, unbelievable, and sex crazed because every professional relationship in the book is basically a sexual harassment poster board.

I hope Mr Borrowman might consider writing part 2. I imagine there are many more invisible heroes that need a voice. I loved the arrangement of the book, each chapter is an independent story of an unsung hero or group. I am a huge WWII buff, yet I never heard of several of the individuals highlighted in this book. I would like to point out that the U.S. Navy Seabees could be included in the combat engineers chapter. Admiral Ben Morrell created the Seabees in December 1942 to "Build and Fight" in the Pacific.

Another shining example of American grit, ingenuity, courage, and success. Gene's epilogue nailed how we no longer stand on the shoulders of giants. Today's generation now fling insults and criticism at these same giants!

This is not a story, this is not a piece of literature. This is a robotic monotone guy reading a list of pilot's scores. Who thought reading a list like sports scores would make a good audible book! What a waste of money, horrendous!!!

Absolutely loved it! The story was rivoting throughout. I really appreciate the fact that the author himself read it. I also enjoyed hearing Amiko read the poem she sent to Scott, great touch!!
