Agatha Christie is one of the best mystery writers
Reviewed: 07-12-25
For a book that was written in 1922 it had all the suspense of a modern day thriller. What really got me about this book however, was the beautiful English language and Agatha Christie'ss usage of vocabulary. People don't speak like that anymore and it's too bad. I highly recommend this book.

Book four of the Thursday Murder Club is, I think, one of the best. There were parts in the book that were difficult for me to read, and I cried out loud. But I laughed too. I was finally able to get used to Fiona Shaw's narration. She really does do an excellent job with all the accents and all the different characters. I'm excited and looking forward to book five.

Excellent story, but should have stuck with Leslie Manville as the narrator.
Reviewed: 06-28-25
As I said in my title, Rchard Osman should have stuck with Leslie Manville as the narrator. Once again the storyline was amazing, held my interest and had another surprise ending. However the narrator of this book, Fiona Shaw was okay, but nowhere as good as Lesley Manvill. At times, it was difficult for me to hear Fiona because she speaks with such a low voice. I ended up turning my volume up and down as to who was speaking at the time. Unfortunately, I looked ahead to see who was narrating the next book and yes, it's Fiona Shaw. Oh well, the story will at least be worth it.
Oh, and I highly recommend that you listened to the interview between the journalist and the author at the end. Very interesting.

Wow, what a fantastic book. I thought it couldn't get any better than the first of this series, but this one was amazing. Without giving away anything, especially the ending, I will say that the ending was a surprise and I cried. I hope you all enjoy the second book in the Thursday Murder Club Mystery series as much as I did.

I really liked the first book. It had substance and it was cute. However, I can't believe I wasted that many hours listening to this book. It was so convoluted, too many characters and sub plots that had absolutely nothing to do with the book. I was very disappointed and the only reason I finished it, was because I really had to find out if I was right about the murderer. This second book in the series has made me very leery about whether I want to read the third installment. Without giving too much away, I will let you be the judge.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Stephen King needs to stick to writing
Reviewed: 06-13-25
I really enjoyed all the stories in this book. I absolutely love Will Payton when he narrates. However, Stephen King narrates two of these stories and I have to tell you, he's a good writer, but he sure is heck, cannot narrate. Several of the stories had me on the edge of my seat, some of them left me wondering why they were even written. But all in all, a very good collection of Stephen King's writings and of course, Will Payton, made it worth listening to.

Another fantastic book by Stephen King about Holly Gibney. It seemed a little bit slow in the beginning and I wasn't too sure about the narrator. But it didn't take long to get me going. In fact, I had to keep going, It was very difficult to stop listening. The narrator, Jesse Mueller was amazing. Her change in voices and even her singing made the book even better. Although I did not completely agree with all the politics in the book, it still made for good reading. Exciting all the way to the end.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Detective Stilwell has been "exiled" to a low-key post policing rustic Catalina Island, after department politics drove him off a homicide desk on the mainland. But while following up the usual drunk-and-disorderlies and petty thefts that come with his new territory, Detective Stilwell gets a report of a body found wrapped in plastic and weighed down at the bottom of the harbor. Crossing all lines of protocol and jurisdiction, he starts doggedly working the case.

I love Catalina Island. It is one of my most favorite places to go. I was familiar with a great deal of places that were mentioned in the book. Good suspense and good mystery. The narrator was very good also. I can't wait for another one to be written. I hope that they use the same narrator for the next audiobook.

This series by Jenna Deleon and narrated by Cassandra Campbell have been the best 28 books I have ever read. Without giving anything away I would really love to see more but I understand why there may not be. The characters became a part of my life and I love every one of them. I laughed and I cried and I didn't figure out too many. Idabelle and Gertie are just amazing characters. Gertie's antics made me laugh out loud. But this last book was the best and I really did cry at the end and I'm crying now. I love you both Jenna and Cassandra, come back to us please.
