But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house. Story was great, NARRATOR WAS INCREDIBLE
Reviewed: 09-06-24
I thought for a while this one wouldn't get very dark. I was a bit wrong. Doesn't get nearly as dark as things like It, but it definitely gets pretty creepy and suspenseful.
The Narrator in this is absolutely amazing 👏 She kills it and does such a great job voice acting and sounding like the main antagonist.
Definitely a solid read.

Really like the subject matter but the Narration is boring
Reviewed: 02-27-24
We all typically like hearing the writer read his own book, but in cases like this I think there's a strong point to be made that sometimes when you have someone who sounds very.. scientific all the time, it makes it a bit more of a challenge to want to continue and continue.
For instance, The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. Listen to that narration and then imagine this guy narrating that book instead. It's much more powerful sometimes to let a professional narrator have at it instead of doing it yourself when you lack a super engaging voice.
That's the one thing with this audio book that makes it more difficult to get through because what he's actually talking about is pretty fascinating and I'm constantly thinking of how I could implement it.
Love the material and his devotion to the craft of his research. Wish he would've grabbed a different narrator.

In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Story
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Really enjoyed this book, and I think I'll probably check out the next in the series as well. I did have a few times when I felt I needed to stop and listen to something more uplifting because the material is pretty heavy, especially as a man. Too many dark dark thoughts of murdering close ones can do that to you haha. 😅
Really, this book, in my opinion, is much better than the movie was. Much more full and so much great backstory. Getting into the thoughts of the characters is phenomenal. Plus I loved the ending.
