Would you listen to Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief again? Why?
I would and I have.
If you’ve listened to books by Wendelin Van Draanen before, how does this one compare?
This was actually my first, but not my last.
Have you listened to any of Tara Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not had the pleasure. But I did enjoy her performance. Its hard to find a good reader for young stories. She was very good.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I felt for Sammy, having to sneak in and out of her grand-mother's apartment. and how her mother is not actually behaving as a mother should.
Any additional comments?
Great story, I look forward to other of this series.

Story
Alicia was born to the good life, she's entitled to the best, and she'll do anything to get it. Even if it means piling up thousands of dollars in debt. Even if it means denying to everyone - even herself - that her love of shopping has gotten way out of control.

The Best of Everything

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. It is one of a long series, but you need not read the others (the Rev. Curtis Black Series) to enjoy this story.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
For what it was, it was a good story. VERY dramatic and soap-opera-ish. You find yourself rolling your eyes and shaking your head throughout the story. But not in a necessarily bad way.
Which character – as performed by Caroline Clay – was your favorite?
Morality to the side. It would be Alicia. I wanted to slap her and ask her, "Girl, do you realize how good you have it? And you're messing it up!"
Who was the most memorable character of The Best of Everything and why?
Once again, Alicia. You just know by the end of this story, she didn't learn her lesson.
Any additional comments?
No, just that this is an quick, enjoyable read.

Story
It's not so easy being Rosemary Goode and tipping the scales at almost 200 pounds - especially when your mother runs the most successful (and gossipiest!) beauty shop in town. After a spectacularly disastrous Christmas break, when the scale reaches an all-time high, Rosemary realizes that things need to change. (A certain basketball player, Kyle Cox, might have something to do with it.) So begins a powerful year of transformation and a journey toward self-discovery.

I loved this story! The author got Rosemary's "voice" just right. Not too mature or childish. Just right.
Rosemary is a little over-weight. ok, a lot over-weight. She has endured one diet or another for as long as she can remember, to no avail. finally she decides to take matters into her own hands. First she tries diet pills. They help for a short time. But with the help of a dietician she realizes that this isn't the healthiest way. On top of this she finds out that her tough-as-nails Mom, has cancer. It's a lot to go through, and Rosemary has a lot of growing up to do.
This is a great book for teens and adults, and opens the door for some great conversations.

A Classic Favorite..Even Better
Reviewed: 03-03-14
If you could sum up The Cat in the Hat and Other Dr. Seuss Favorites in three words, what would they be?
I didn't think Dr. Suess could be made better, this audio did just that!
Who was your favorite character and why?
This was a compilation of favorite stories, so there was something for everyone. Each story was read by a different celebrity. Dustin Hoffman reads Horton Hears a Who, etc.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
I can't choose, I really can't. Although, How the Grinch Stole XMas is my favorite story, of all time!!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, dole it out slowly. Listen to a couple of stories at a time, and enjoy.
Any additional comments?
Nope.

If you were big and ugly, had a ton of sharp teeth, and a truly enormous appetite, you wouldn't need the "magic word" either! These stories for kids, from acclaimed storytelling songster Bill Harley, center around the theme of being small.

Another great book!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Time VERY well-spent! MY 9 year-old's top ten favorite.
We usually allow him to listen before bed and on long rides in the car. Believe me, parents, You will never have to hear "are we there, yet?" with this audio playing.
If you’ve listened to books by Bill Harley before, how does this one compare?
We also have "Blah, blah, blah". I did enjoy that one a bit more, but this one was good too.
What does Bill Harley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Hi voice, his personality!! He's great. Most authors aren't the greatest narrators. But Bill is absolutely wonderful.
Could you see Dinosaurs Never Say Please and Other Stories being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Oh, yes! This would make a great afterschool series. On of the few I would approve of. Some cartoons are SO edgy and hyper these days.
Any additional comments?
Keep them coming Bill. We will be listening!!
