This is definitely not a cozy murder mystery. I was thinking that it was, but was pleasantly surprised. The main character is a woman who stands for herself. I admire her, and look forward to another book in the series.

Who ever heard of a ghost helping with a murder investigation? Fantasy but fun. It kept my attention most of the time, but I listened in spurts, so I lost some of the momentum.

Dialogue was shallow. I didn't finish listening to the book. For someone who has read several stories from this period, I could not stay interested.

The dog characters were the best. I didn't really care about the whodunnit, but the Wag Tail Inn and the accommodations for the pets made me smile. I will read another in this series.

I don't give five stars very often, but this book deserves it. Wonderfully woven family stories that drew me in as the characters seemed as if they were real people I knew. And what an unusual event that brought Posey and Freddie together! What an unusual storyline! I was emotionally connected to the family, and found myself reliving feelings from my own childhood upbringing. Lucinda Riley is one of my favorite authors.

Iraq in 1925-6 ruled by Britain. A whole different world. Lovely descriptions of life in the desert and the story of three strong women whose lives are first entwined on the Orient Express train.

I have enjoyed the J. New stories. They are "cozy" but also good mysteries. This one takes place in France, and the French accents are good. I hope to read another of her books.

Complicated and entwined story seemed to me, to go on too long before revealing "why" a woman was being endangered.
I liked the kid characters.
