About this listen

Hoping to make a clean break from a fractured marriage, Agatha Christie boards the Orient Express in disguise. But unlike her famous detective Hercule Poirot, she can't neatly unravel the mysteries she encounters on this fateful journey.

Agatha isn't the only passenger on board with secrets. Her cabinmate Katharine Keeling's first marriage ended in tragedy, propelling her toward a second relationship mired in deceit. Nancy Nelson - newly married but carrying another man's child - is desperate to conceal the pregnancy and teeters on the brink of utter despair. Each woman hides her past from the others, ferociously guarding her secrets. But as the train bound for the Middle East speeds down the track, the parallel courses of their lives shift to intersect - with lasting repercussions.

Filled with evocative imagery, suspense, and emotional complexity, The Woman on the Orient Express explores the bonds of sisterhood forged by shared pain and the power of secrets.

Woke up anticipating listening

Not my usual genre but this novel excels in every aspect I delight in and expect in the best of novels.Intriguing plot, complex characters and natural, unforced dialogue. So captured me that I completed the novel in less than a day and a half; woke up excited about resuming listening.Narration is perfectly suited to characters and plot that is faultless and in large part what makes the novel so throughly captivating.

question

Where does The Woman on the Orient Express rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story was great. The narrator needs to stop ending her sentences with a question. It's annoying. Lower your voice at the end of a statement rather than raising it.

A pleasant surprise

I thought this story shifted paradigms and took me to places I didn't expect to go. Agatha's supporting cast was fantastic and Agatha herself was written with a vulnerability and openness I didn't expect. She felt real, not like some super-sleuth that had everything figured out by page 10 and was just going through the motions. Her supporting females , Nancy and Katherine, only add to the intrigue leaving the reader entertained, but not overwrought with plot contrivenses. I really enjoyed the narrator and this book.

The woman on orient express

What a book! It touches every fiber of one's soul !
The travel details on the Orient Express Train makes one immediately want to travel there. The food descriptions, food presentation and aromas are among the best I've ever read .
The narrative is exquisite. I'm marking it as one of the most wonderful books I've ever read

Just meh

I bought this book as a daily deal. That was all that it was worth. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. It dragged in many places.

A train ride to the future.

Great story about Agatha Christy and the trip she took to Baghdad when she was in her thirties. Three strong minded women meet on the train and have an adventure that changes all three of their lives. Narration was wonderful and kept me entertained for hours.
