I noticed another reviewer gave a one-star review for unnecessary profanity and poor grammar. There was very little profanity in the production. In fact by those standards I would say the same reviewer would give one star to all of Hemingway. It's a fun listen. give it a try.

This book was an unexpected treat and even better for being free on Audible. A lot of interesting information packed into two hours. Thanks Audible!

I bought this book as a deal of the day bargain and have to say this is one of my favorite listens so far this year. The story is engaging and the narration is perfect. I was surprised to find at the end that it was narrated by the author. That's not always a good thing. I would love to see this made into a movie.

Another thoroughly enjoyable read from Stephen King. The narration on this one, from Will Patton, deserves honorable mention. Mr Patton did an outstanding job. He has become overtime one of my favorite narrators.

Most will already be familiar with the story so I won't get into that however I have to say the narration was one of the best I have heard. Will Patton was perfect in this role, or I should say in these several roles. I definitely recommend this recording. I will probably listen to it again sometime in the future.

I've been a huge fan of Mr. Lansdale's Hap and Leonard series, but this one fell a little short of my expectations. I found it to be a fairly cliche western. Not a bad western by any stretch, but there isn't anything about it that stands out either I'm afraid.

I've read all of Mr. Backman's books so far and would be hard-pressed to say which one is my favorite. Purchased all of them on Audible and also in hardback copies. The narration in all of his books has been above-average but this one was one of the best I've heard. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed everything about this book. The story the narration, all of it. I don't expect ever to see a sequel but I would love to hear more of the characters' various stories.

Lonesome Dove Audiobook By Larry McMurtry cover art

If you could sum up Lonesome Dove in three words, what would they be?

Best western novel.

What did you like best about this story?

I have loved this book for thirty years or more.I've read it two or three times, seen the TV mini-series more times than I can count and it is still like visiting dear old friends.

Which scene was your favorite?

Too many to narrow down to one but the bar scene where Gus reminds the dawdling bartender in his own special way that he's not to be messed with is always good for a chuckle.

Any additional comments?

Lee Horsley did a fine job with the narration, but the sound quality was all over the place. In the middle of a sentence it might go from sounding like Mr Horsley had the microphone in his mouth to sounding like he was standing across the room. As the novel progressed they seemed to get things sorted out but initially Gus spoke so much louder than the other characters that the sound, especially through headphones, was either borderline unintelligible or downright painful, with no in between. Lonesome Doves deserves to be re-recorded, truly.
