Story
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

Incredible Narration
Reviewed: 02-06-24
The narrator uses different voices for each character making the story a much more manageable listen despite the horrific content. The book is well written and seems to be well researched, but not a pleasurable story to listen to. Narration could not be better.

Story
When Rupert Murdoch enlisted Roger Ailes to launch a cable news network in 1996, American politics and media changed forever. With a remarkable level of detail and insight, Vanity Fair magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman puts Ailes’s unique genius on display, along with the outsize personalities - Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelly, Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Gretchen Carlson, Bill Shine, and others - who have helped Fox News play a defining role in the great social and political controversies of the past two decades.

Gabriel and his editor should be proud. The research was exhaustive, and, in my opinion, the findings were delivered in an unbiased manner. Based on the level of detail, it's evident this book took many years of research, writing, and editing. It's subject - Mr. Ailes - was delivered to the reader thoroughly, carefully, and fairly. The narration was spot-on. It's a shame that Mr. Ailes refused to be interviewed for the book. A much deserved "well-done" to Gabriel, the editor, researchers (if anyone else contributed other than Mr. Sherman), and narrator.

Story
Tom Segura is known for his twisted takes and irreverent comedic voice. But after a few years of crazy tours and churning out podcasts weekly, all while parenting two young children, he desperately needs a second to himself. It’s not that he hates his friends and family — he’s not a monster — he’s just beat, which is why his son’s (ruthless) first full sentence, “I’d like to play alone, please,” has since become his mantra.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Extremely well done. Phenomenal narration and an entertaining story. Highly recommend. Unsure any of it made much sense from a scientific perspective, but I think that's besides the point.

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Well written, explained, surprisingly realistic, and entertaining. The main character's reflections and thoughts were insightful and interesting. Almost no development of the female characters but there were a lot characters so that would have been a tall task.
