Who is THE NOWHERE MAN? He is spoken about only in whispers. He comes to those in greatest need of his protection. There is no enemy he cannot fight. He lives by his own code. He takes no prisoners. His name is Evan Smoak. Taken from a group home when he was young, Evan was raised and trained as an Orphan, an off-the-books black box program designed to create the perfect deniable intelligence asset: An assassin.

Wow! Just Wow!!!
Reviewed: 07-16-22
After reading Orphan X, I purchased what I thought was the next book in the series, but it turned out to be Book 5, Into The Fire. Then I realized I was out of sequence - the characters and actions in each book give so much insight into Orphan X and what makes him tick. After looking at reviews of Book 2, The Nowhere Man, I decided to skip it because those reviews really panned this book. So, I moved to books 3 and 4, but these books referred to characters and events that occurred earlier in guess which book. So, I broke down and got The Nowhere Man with the thought that even if it is not be as exciting or intriguing as the other books in the series, it would at least fill in some gaps for me - no spoilers here. After reading The Nowhere Man, I can't believe anyone who enjoyed Orphan X would not enjoy this one even more. Evan Smoak (aka Orphan X and Nowhere Man) has such a complex, multi-layered personality. He is brutal but kind. He inflicts pain but suffers. He can kill in dozens of ways, but has a hard time expressing himself with "normal" folks. I enjoyed this book so much and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in this series. With my new-found knowledge of what happened in this book, I am going to re-read books 3, 4, and 5 and then move on with each book following in this series. It's a thrill ride that sometimes takes my breath away. Thank you Gregg Hurwitz for developing Orphan X and sharing him with your fans.

When will Webb London return?
Reviewed: 02-26-22
Last Man Standing was a roller coaster read that left me wanting a sequel. Despite physical and emotional abuse and horrific damage, Webb London, FBI agent and member of an elite team, is able to heroically overcome odds and enemies. If all you are looking for is a HEA, this book is not for you. If you are looking for a finely layered story with lots of action, droll humor, twists, turns, red herrings, realistic dialog and emotions, Whew, this book is for you!!! I sincerely hope author David Baldacci has another imaginative plot featuring Webb London.

Story
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

Story
Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. Set in 1863, the novel follows Lieutenant John Dunbar on a magical journey from the ravages of the Civil War to the far reaches of the imperiled American frontier, a frontier he naively wants to see "before it is gone".

I have always enjoyed the movie starring Kevin Costner and was delighted to see this book in audible format. The movie won several Oscars and the book was even better. This story provides a deeply personal view into the Native American culture, both the beauty and brutality of their existence. This is a must read.

The historic background of medieval England was smoothly inserted, and mostly factual. But add to that history a love story and it's sure to please. Will and Eleanor were made for each other. At times I wanted to kick Will in the shins for being so dense about his feelings for Eleanor, but there were so many satisfying moments when their relationship deepened and became a real love story. Thank you Emma for a great chapter in the Bodyguard series and thank you Tim for a great narration.

In the summer of 1937, Amelia Earhart is the most famous woman in the world - a record-breaking pilot, a best-selling author, and a modern woman shattering the glass ceiling in the early days of aviation. And then she vanishes. In Tampa, Florida, 15-year-old Lizzie Friedlander spends her afternoons glued to her father’s radio, tapping into the enormity of a world she longs to travel. Amelia Earhart's Final Flight
Reviewed: 03-19-20
Initially I thought this was a story about what may have happened to Amelia Earhart on that final fateful flight. It was that, but so much more. It was about challenging yourself to become more than good "enough." It was about some who think they have power to undermine and ignore the needs of others and the terrible consequences of such egocentric behavior. It was about rising above your circumstances to achieve personal goals. All these things plus a poignant look into what motivated Amelia Earhart to become the legend that inspires women, even today.

Story
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

Inspiring true story

The story of Elizebeth Friedman is one all women should read. She was truly ahead of her time, breaking intricate codes without the aid of anything but her pencil, some paper and her intellect. Her code-breaking skills led to the downfall of smugglers and mobsters. Before, during and after World War II her skills led to the downfall and capture of enemies of the United States. She never received or expected accolades for her work. We are fortunate that archives were discovered that detail her strength of spirit, dedication, and humility. What a woman! What a phenomenal role model for the women of today!
