Deep Dive Into Prayer
Reviewed: 08-20-24
Wow, this was an amazing book! In the beginning, it’s explained that this book is for everyone on the spectrum of praying or not praying and I totally agree. Tyler Staton has clearly practiced prayer for many years, and getting to dive deeper into something that seems so mundane, unglamorous, and sometimes unfruitful; well, this was a gift. Some of this was not just teaching me how to pray, but also validating my experiences with prayer- the singing mountains and the dark valley moments of experiencing prayer. It was a gentle shepherding into the more wholesome paths of my mind and heart posture when it comes to prayer. I am deeply grateful for this book and I am going to be re-listening to this!

Research That Continues to Prove God’s Guidance
Reviewed: 02-26-24
This was a phenomenal read/listen! This research reignites hope, and also solidifies the teachings of God throughout time. We are created to have a connection with Him and His creation. It’s easy to forget this in our busy lives with mounds of worries and seemingly mountainous problems. We miss the life right in front of us. I am very guilty of this. What has stoked the fire in me from listening to this research is how I can be a part of protecting future generations in my lineage from the devastating effects of depression and hopelessness. There is protection in connection with our Creator and His creation. What a freedom it is to be so loved! Thank you for your persistence and hope in the research you work so hard in, Dr. Miller. You are giving people a special view into the life we can live, and the importance of the power of our choice, no matter what our immediate circumstances may be.

You will be changed

Get ready for a ride! This book took me on a journey through the Lord’s Prayer in a way that felt as if Jesus was walking along side me and opening doors and windows to the unfathomable love He is readily pouring out onto every single person. Sometimes it felt too intense for me to manage, but Andrew has a way of gently showing you how it is entirely possible and how Jesus will be the Guide, always. I will be listening to this again and I will be taking it slowly as I let these lessons sink in so that I develop a practice to prepare me for peace and love as a response, the way Jesus lived His human life. The beautiful thing about this book is it gets right to the difficult, yet extraordinary way to live a life that truly reflects Jesus. Jesus’s way was shocking then, and it is shocking today. G-D is OUR Father. My goal after these lessons is to stop “othering” and intensely pursue “togethering”. Thank you, Andrew DeCort for this profound message you have shared.

Story
As famine overtakes the land, Simeon leads his brothers into Egypt to buy grain. He doesn't recognize the vengeful ruler he must bow before: Joseph, his long-lost brother, the very brother Simeon sold into slavery years ago. Now, it is the brash Simeon's turn to endure imprisonment. Only Mandisa, the handmaid who interprets the ruler's language, is his saving grace. The beautiful widow and her young son see another side of Simeon, the tenderness beneath the tough exterior. As much as he would like to, he will never be free to love them until he unshackles the chains around his own heart.

Great story and great narration
Reviewed: 05-02-23
This second book has a little more of the author’s creative license in regards to the Biblical story of Joseph’s brothers. However, Angela Hunt does a beautiful job at creating a story relevant to that time and cultural context to help us understand more of the depths of this incredible working of God! The narration is one of the best I’ve heard in a very long time!! Stina Nielsen does a great job at using the Hebrew names/pronunciations which I really appreciated. It is honoring to the Word of God and helps immerse you more into the story. Fantastic job!! Great listen and great story.

Story
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

This book amazed me. The narration was mesmerizing!

I am astounded at the accuracy and intricacy of the picture Charles Martin paints with his words. This story is full of heart (pun intended). I am so grateful for the way he writes about the weaving of faith and real life difficulties. And such well placed humor! There are a lot of medical details, and I believe it adds to the depth of the story. This story contains the 4 main types of love: agape, eros, philia, and storge. Really amazing how he has woven them to make a beautiful work of art. Martin has a beautiful gift and I look forward to experiencing his other books.
Adam Verner did an amazing job narrating!! He was really easy to listen to and has a great talent for bringing the story to life. I have listened to quite a few books and will say that his narration was a great part of this whole experience. Overall, this was a really great listen and I have already recommended this book to some friends.

Story
Stillness as a virtue is a foreign concept in our society, but there is wisdom in God's own rhythm of work and rest. Jesus practiced sabbath among those who had turned it into a dismal thing, a day for murmuring and finger-wagging, and he reminded them of the day's true purpose: liberation - to heal, to feed, to rescue, to celebrate, to lavish and relish life abundant. With this audiobook, Buchanan reminds us of this and gives practical advice for restoring the sabbath in our lives.

This was so well-read! Eric Michael Summerer was an incredible narrator. I say this first because it was so integral to giving the teachings of this book, and teachings that I will carry for the rest of my life. What a beautiful way Mark Buchanan has helped describe, explain and live Sabbath. It truly is God’s gift to us and it is something to be celebrated! Enjoy this journey on how resting in God’s love and creation looks/feels/exemplifies in your life.
