Story
Young playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. But seeing it performed is unlikely, in a theater world where the playing field isn’t level for women. As Melina wonders if she dares risk failure again, her best friend takes the decision out of her hands and submits the play to a festival under a male pseudonym.

The author connected the past with today by showing how one stamp in a large collection can be so unique it triggers the two worlds to be united.
World war 1 caused families to be separated, surviving under different identities, and those who survived hoped that one day they would be reunited. Not many find their way back. Today, war creates the same situation. Why can’t the leadership solve their differences be negotiating for peace and stability.

Story
In enemy-occupied Paris, as the locals go to bed starving and defeated by the war, music and laughter spills through the door of a little restaurant, crowded with German soldiers. The owner, Marianne, moves on weary feet between its packed tables, carrying plates of steaming, wholesome food for the enemy officers. Her smile is bright and sparkling, her welcome cordial. Nobody would guess the hatred she hides in her heart. That night, the restaurant closes its doors for the final time.

Forgiveness is a virtue
Reviewed: 12-17-23
I love how the main characters grow from an innocent relationship to then a professional relationship which really makes each person understand the other which then makes the relationship more complicated. Sometimes space is necessary so the details become less complex and the respect for each other becomes the foundation for forgiveness. The author did a great job with characters, the development of them in an ever competitive business that can go from success to failure overnight. Awesome read, the audible voices were perfect!!

Story
Retired policeman Tom Kettle is enjoying the quiet of his new home, a lean-to annexed to a white Victorian Castle in Dalkey overlooking the sea. For months he has barely seen a soul, but his peace is interrupted when two former colleagues turn up at his door to ask questions about a decades-old case. A traumatic case which Tom never quite came to terms with. His peace is further disturbed by a young mother and family who move in next door, a woman on the run from her own troubles. And what of Tom’s family, his wife June, and their two children?

The author writes well, revealing a story that brings back a painful childhood, his loving but abused wife, and then his troubled children. The main character is a loner, suppressing truths of his own past. The story then unfolds as he is asked to help in an old unsolved case he worked as a policeman. The story is sad, painful past that no one should ever have.

A powerful book written to show how resourceful women became during a war when the Taliban ruled Kabul and essentially imposed restrictions to survive. The author wrote the details of a young woman who had the courage to support her family as their income dwindled to below sustainable as men fled or fought, and women were house bound. I enjoyed the book, emotionally feeling inspired to not give up. We are blessed to live in a community with many resources and non profit organizations that support women and families.

Each of the characters have spousal relationship issues that cause pain, shame, and isolation. Jessica Redland slowly unravels the details to each of the women's situations, leaving the reader feeling the character's despair.
Complete strangers find small comforts as events unfold, assisting each other with bits of compassion. The story continues with the growth of each person, small wins, soul searching, and breaking down barriers that help move each person forward in a positive direction. I loved the book because life is about breaking out of a routine that isn't working any more, exploring a certain freedom, and finding what does work. There's no perfect relationship. It's how you accept the imperfections that make it perfect. Quoteist.com

Story
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Protection of Individual Identities

The author, Kristin Harmel, portrays the importance of relationships, seeking help from close individuals, leaving the past behind and withstanding the will to survive.
Overnight, the Jews witness the development of social injustice, rising fear and pressures from the Germans soldiers, neighbors who turned hostile, and so many Jews were left with very few alternatives to escape to safety. The author wrote a compelling story, weaving the events, the characters, love, fear, grasping at opportunities, difficulties of the underground operations, networking, and recognizing a small community that was willing to risk everything for the chance to provide freedom and safety to the Jews.
The book grasps your attention immediately and keeps you entertained until the end. You feel the pain of those that did not survive, the anger, the betrayal of friendships, reunion of family members, and the results of people you didn't know survived.

It takes amazing character to overcome the poverty, cultural bias, social limitations, and personal self confidences. Your dreams lead you to choose a highly competitive profession~ survive the limited roles, negative judgement, low paying jobs, but you kept focused and survive all of this to become a very talented actor. Congratulations, I have the utmost respect for the deep emotional strength you developed, the chances you explored, not giving up, all to define you. Your book was sad, raw, well written, and emotionally gripping. Your passion allowed you to removed all of the barriers, grow as an individual, learn your craft and to work hard to becoming who you are today~~a successful actor/producer/collaborator, a loving/supportive family member, intentional, devoted wife, and extremely talented, fully developed woman. I hope your story provides strength to women who struggle to define their peace and happiness.
