Great story! Makes me wonder if during the Civil War, things like this might have happened.

This story touched on so many things….anger, forgiveness, misunderstandings, judgments, kindness, and generosity of Spirit to name a few. Believable and touching. This is a keeper!

Often we judge by another’s actions….not fully understanding their past. Loved this story of strength by overcoming one’s former tragedy. Adeline’s strength to make the best of her situations gives courage. Very much enjoyed this narrator too. It always amazes me how a woman can perform a male’s character so believably.

As soon as I read that Ms. Eyre was the narrator, I knew this would be a delightful book! A dark mystery, a kind Marquess akin to The Scarlet Pimpernel, lovely and brave heroine, this had all the requirements for a great story.

I find myself chuckling throughout the story…..and the Dowager reminded me so of Lady Violet in Downton!!! I was totally charmed by this story, and adore the narrator!

Loved this story. Nobility does not make one a good person. Misconceptions often clouds deeper realities. I shall look for more books by this author. I found this a good story with the perfect amount of sizzle. Not too much….just right. And I have always adored Justine Eyre’s narrations! She makes the stories come alive!

Caelan so reminded me of my son. Always seeking perfection, logic, obedient to extreme….then found his young friend just the opposite. That those two could become such good friends was bewildering. Their very astute teacher one day pointed out that they were the perfect friends for each other. My son’s crazy, impetuous, throw caution to the wind friend taught my uptight son to relax and enjoy their youth…..while my calm, cautious and responsible son tightened the reins on his friend.
This story was so endearing, and I fell in love with Caelan and his lovely….always getting into trouble Glynis. A sumptuous listen!!!!!

I guess I adore stories of love conquering over evil……unkind and wrong perceptions being proven wrong. Strength in the gentle….and understanding and empathy towards those who have been brutally treated as children. Love the messages in this lovely story.
