About this listen

They are the infamous lords, whose scandalous ways keep tongues wagging. But when darker whispers take hold, a spirited writer's encounter with a dangerously desirable nobleman may uncover the whole story....

For James Trent, Lord Huntington, there's no escaping the question that labeled him The Murdering Marquess: was his wife's death a tragic accident or a cold-blooded crime? He's avoided London's gossipmongers since that terrible night, as guardian to his younger siblings on his Essex estate. But trouble finds him when a veiled temptress with secrets of her own falls - quite literally - into his arms.

Caroline Lawrence doesn't need a man to rescue her - the aspiring journalist anonymously advocates for women's rights in a radical London newspaper column. But when a suffragist's soapbox speech turns to pandemonium, Caroline is knocked on the head and reawakens in Trent Hall - with the notorious lord of the manor irresistibly close. If there is any truth to his tarnished past, she should denounce him with her powerful pen. Yet love has a way of revealing a man's true character....

Contains mature themes.

A good read!

I liked this book very much. The Characters were well developed and likable. I was looking forward to listening to James Trent’s, aka Lord Huntington, story. While I enjoyed the book, I enjoyed the first two books in the series better. I would have loved this book more if Georgie and Trent’s sister had been a little less of a twit. I think Grandma’s character could have been more a bit more fun. Still, I liked book and recommend it!

Good men are hard to find

Loved the story and the narrator. A blue stocking meets her match with a rumored widower and visa versa

A true gentleman

I loved the MMC’s steadfast commitment to his siblings. The FMC’s cousin was a brainless twit-written that way on purpose I believe but she fit right in.

Even better than the first

The first book in this series was my intro to the genre. I loved it, but my one criticism was that the steamy scenes were a little repetitive. Well, not so this time around! I think the first one in this book will possibly be my forever favourite, but those that followed were all great too and on top of that I adored the story and all the supporting characters (Team Anthony ❤️).

On to the next one!

Great!

I read the 1st book of the series but didn't love it. I am so glad I gave this author another try. This book was such fun. The writing was professional, the storyline interesting and the humor subtle but often present. I like both MCs, they were well developed and worked harmoniously with supporting cast. Ot was well edited as well,i.e., no unnecessary filler text, no repetition and no loose ends.

The only thing I was not crazy about was the narrator. I find her inflection overly dramatic and off putting but you get used to it. <shrug>

love it!

I enjoyed this book very much. I loved James and his relationships with his siblings. Caroline was a great. I do wish, however, that just once the guys would tell the OW to push off. I get tired of the men putting up with the obnoxious OW b*tch getting all randy and the men just politely saying no thanks. Tell her to get stuffed.

Great story, AWFUL narrator!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. However, the narrator’s voice grated on my nerves! The hissing ‘s’, the breathy whispering, the bizarre cadence of the sentences, just ruined it almost entirely! Could have been a 5 star all around if someone else like Justin Eyre would have narrated…

Wonderful read

I loved to think there were men out there who respected their wife's thoughts and ideas. Intelligence can be attractive.
