Publisher's summary

They are the infamous lords, unrepentant rogues whose bad behavior makes for good gossip among the ton. But these sexy scoundrels have stories no one knows. And it takes a special touch to reveal the true hearts behind their devilish disguises....

Known as a brazen philanderer, Hayden Milton, Earl of Westfield, is almost done in by a vengeful mistress who aims a gun at a rather essential part of his anatomy - but ends up wounding his thigh instead. Recuperating in his London townhouse, Hayden is confronted by his new medical attendant. Sophia Camden intrigues him, for behind her starched uniform is an enticing beauty better suited for bedding than dispensing salves and changing bandages.

Unshaken by his arrogance, not to mention impropriety, Sophia offers Hayden a dare: Allow her 10 days to prove her competency. If she resigns in exasperation like her two predecessors, she will be beholden to this wicked seducer. As a battle of wills begins, Sophia finds herself distracted by the earl's muscular physique...and discovers that the man within longs only for a second chance to love.

Contains mature themes.

Perfect listen to at 1.05

Such a wonderful book! Well written and smart. The first few minutes of narration I didn’t think I could listen , she read so slow and drawn out, SPEED UP TO 1.05 and it is a great narration. Enjoyed completely.

Never Dare a Wicked Earl

Renee Ann Miller is a new author for me. I liked this book very much. It has secrets, a strong heroine and lovable characters. I will watch for other books by this author.

Enjoyed the story irritated by narrator

Not only does the narrator's sing-song style irritate, it sounds like she tries to put on a posh accent by overrounding some vowels: back, rat, hat becomes buck, rut and hut and palms is poms, father is fother? Seriously annoying. She also uses a super feminine voice and style when speaking from the male character's point of view that his "inner thoughts" often sounds like he's secretly a winy teenage girl... Only reason I finished listening while rolling my eyes at narrator was because I enjoyed the story. Will rather get the e-book version for the next in the series.

Good story, irritating narrator

Narrator pronounces 'back' as 'bawk' and father as fother. Not impressed with her narrating style. The story was good, so I listened until the end.

Loved It!

Colorful world building. Although the author did not date the storyline which is very nice when they do. I would guess this book was written right after Prince Albert passed away. The amount and the type of tech is appropriate.

Song song narrator is all I have to say, 😤😫😖🫨

I HATE the narrators voice when she try’s to linger too much on words! (Like she thinks she is trying to be too proper with her elongated words Like it makes me cringe)😬 I love her regular voice and the voices she uses for the other characters I don’t know how to articulate how to explain when she is narrating it’s like she is trying to whisper. (Maybe some people like the whisper voice BUT NOT EVERYONE so if you DONT like the whisper voice I don’t think you’ll like this book) I guess you can just go buy the book I think the book story is GOOOD🫶🏻 it’s just the narrators whisper voice I JUST CANT!! Like when she is trying and just talk regularly it’s good or oven when she does the other male voice and LITERALLY ANY OTHER Character it’s just her narrator, Voice that reminds me of nails to chalk but not all the time it’s just like when she remembers to “try” to make her voice sound I guess smooth or something but it’s giving opposite effect makes me cringe 😬 just be warned!

Liked the book, frustrated by the narrator

The narrator's pronunciation of vowels was so unnatural as to be grating. Some common words were nearly unrecognizable.

Lot of angst

This book has a great premise but it's petty drama after the first quarter of the book. The premise seems really fun in the beginning but it doesn't last long.

Surprise hidden gem.

I didn’t expect much from this book but found it to be a delightful tale. Plenty of mystery and romance set in a well developed, believable Victorian era. This book was written and performed better than a large amount of contemporary romance currently overpriced and under edited.
I feel like this story’s title hurts it’s chances of being enjoyed by more readers.
The title is not an accurate reflection of the contents.
