Story
Kelsey Phillips is over the dating scene. All that time and energy perfecting your profile and taking just the right picture and articulating exactly what you’re looking for, only to get the same sleazy propositions? No, thanks. She’s doing just fine on her own, so there’s no point in a fruitless hunt for “the one” that doesn’t exist. Besides, she already has the perfect man in her life. Theo is the type of friend who’s always there for a laugh, a hug, or a drink - and no propositions.

If you like a story so unreal and stupid then this is for you!

The premise of the book was a good idea but It was like a 13 year old girl wrote it was so ridiculous and unrealistic. For period pieces it’s OK when they’re unrealistic with a little humor this one was just plain dumb I couldn’t stand it I couldn’t listen anymore.

Story
An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello. When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right? Wrong.

Reviews are subjective so here's one person's take ...I am not British but I really enjoyed and get this writers humor! My 2nd book of hers. The story went a tad long and I felt annoyed a bit in a few sections as it gets a bit heavy ( but the writers humor is always present ) ... the story gives you at the very end, a lighter thoughtful decision making ending with happier people. The end both surprised me and made me laugh. Suddenly that's it the story is over. I felt satisfied and the end is open to your own interpretation or thought.
PS I am not a writer hope this makes sense.

I really enjoyed this work. A couple of reviews said it was boring and unbelievable. Duh... it is not exactly reality and it is delivered with humor and a nice amount of romance and it is back a bit in time so it both delighted and surprised as did cupboard kisses which is even funnier.
I want to sail away to another interesting world personally. These 2 books did the trick.

If Darcy Barrett hadn’t met her dream man when she was eight years old, the rest of the male population wouldn’t be such a let-down. No one measures up to Tom Valeska, aka the best man on Earth, not in looks, brain, or heart. Even worse is the knowledge that her twin brother Jamie saw him first, and claimed him forever as his best friend. Tom’s off limits and loyal to her brother, 99 percent. One percent of Tom has had to be enough for Darcy, and her adoration has been sustained by his shy kindness. And if she’s honest, his tight t-shirts.

Not a 100 percent fun ride
Reviewed: 02-01-19
The Hating Game was such a fun experience and the characters all made me laugh with delight plus there was the witty-ness of the boy girl game romance and the parents on both sides were real and interesting characters the workplace characters funny and real too. it all was great right out the gate, original and fresh. Plus the narrator further made it funny.
So this one I can not finish it kept loosing my attention and interest it is flat compared to the first book. Kind of grating for me, felt a little trite.
Maybe partly the narration or its just me cause most reviews in the actual book reading world ... it is loved not talking the narrated version.
There's only a few reviews so far on Audible. So on that note you must at least try it. :-)

I love Lisa's stories but this dissapointed me
Reviewed: 07-02-18
Ironically if this was Lisa's only book I probably would not have one complaint but because she is the best in this field ( to me ) always fricken funny and the romance part is always perfect, soooo good... reality no longer interests me after she designs these characters, Ha ha. Still in love with the idea of the gypsy in the Hathaways.
Anyway this one was not as inventive or something it felt more glib, did not send me. But please please keep them coming. It must be hard to keep them coming when all are waiting. Lisa really is the best at this.
Thanks for doing it!

Just not as creative as her other books
Reviewed: 06-23-18
This one was just OK compared to her others. I really enjoyed the crazy creative twists and emotional responses to be had in most of her books especially the gambling club series. So fun.
The recent last 2 books including this one are entertaining but sort of flat. I wanted to be surprised more or something like her earlier books. Whatever that special ingredient was seems not to be there.
The narrator also is not my favorite but I can get past that because Sarah's stories are good.
Just one listeners viewpoint. We are all different in our tastes and likes.

Narration kind of ruined this story
Reviewed: 01-30-18
What disappointed you about Keep Her Safe?
Mostly the narration did not match the characters. The girl characters are suppose to be from Texas and Robin Eller's ( nothing against her voice ) voice did not sound right at all she enunciates words perfectly but has a city girl vibe to it and does not go with the characters. One of them is supposedly on the Herion drug but way to fast talking for someone in that state. This was someone who supposedly was in a state of Herion apathy as the story's character was written.
On top of that the male voice was way too soft speaking for the male characters and sounded silly and not right for the girl characters.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
That is a personal opinion choice thing. But I did so love her saving water series of 4 novels that each one of the stories connected but took one on a crazy fun adventure all in different locations I have listened to them all more than once.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
I think Sebastian York would been matched up well. Don't know for the girl narrator.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Just not for me compared to the k a tucker's saving water series, this was flat and more serious or something there were no real surprises or creative twists.
I feel that is a personal thing and would not take seriously my take on the actual story to each his own. Again just the narration killed it for me.
Any additional comments?
I believe to each his own opinion on a story and what one enjoys about it. I like surprises on a story and a little more upbeat.
