About this listen

When Wicked Comes Calling...

When a mysterious stranger finds his way into her bedchamber and offers his help in landing a duke, Lady Felicity Faircloth agrees - on one condition. She’s seen enough of the world to believe in passion, and won’t accept a marriage without it.

The Wallflower Makes a Dangerous Bargain...

Bastard son of a duke and king of London’s dark streets, Devil has spent a lifetime wielding power and seizing opportunity, and the spinster wallflower is everything he needs to exact a revenge years in the making. All he must do is turn the plain little mouse into an irresistible temptress, set his trap, and destroy his enemy.

For the Promise of Passion...

But there’s nothing plain about Felicity Faircloth, who quickly decides she’d rather have Devil than another. Soon, Devil’s carefully laid plans are in chaos and he must choose between everything he's ever wanted... and the only thing he's ever desired.

Featured Article: A Love Story for the Ages—The Best Historical Romance Audiobooks of All Time

Audiobooks are an ideal way to explore the historical romance genre, especially when you’re guided by a talented narrator. There is nothing like witty banter, (im)perfect manners, and veiled flirtation cleverly performed by skilled voices to entertain and enliven the experience. The different time periods add a richness to the settings and an extra layer of discovery and delight. Here are some of the best historical romance novels that truly sing in audio.

Compelling Storyline • Strong Characters • Magnificent Performance • Witty Dialogue • Interesting Premise • Complex Hero

Sarah MacLean is a master of her craft and this book definitely does justice to her talent. I hate giving away plots and telling all in reviews, so I will simply say that if you are on the fence about this book, don't be. It's worth it.

Very good book but narrator is far from doing the males voices well. it is a good story.

Good book irritating narrator

I like that the main characters are bastards that have to fight for their place in the world. The heroine is headstrong but not stupid as is what usually happens with willful women in literature. I usually don't pay full price for audio books but I may for this series.

Ok so this wasn’t a “have to read” book by any means. But. It got me interested enough to want to read the next ones to find iut what happens to the rest of the siblings! Well done, Sarah, writing such vivid characters! Honestly the only thing that really bothered me, and I am hoping and praying she doesn’t do this in future books, is to have “Felicity Faircloth” repeated 8 zillion and a half dang times! Omg, if you took all of the times it was said you’d probably get 2 whole dang pages! It got to where I cringed every time it was said!
Story was cute. It was kind of nice, actually, to have the underdog from the world of the lower class be the star, and ever the winner. Its something we can all relate to, instead of the other world which we dream about. Love both kinds of stories, but these are less frequent.
Narrator was fine. Not one of my favorites but in no way am I inclined to avoid her. All in all, worth my 2 for 1 purchase. Not sure if it would be worth a whole credit though.

Well, it got me!

Sarah did it again! This story is compelling, the characters have depth, and the witty banter is top tier. Can’t wait to listen/read all the books from this series.

Sarah MacLean hit another home run!

I like this author and this book was fun and different. Interesting plot. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to see what happens to the other characters and the plot twist I foresee coming for the perceived villain! I really enjoyed the interview with the author at the end!

Different and enjoyable

It was such fun to see the characters blossom & come to terms with their feelings!

Enthralling

I don't think Felicity was a wallflower - she was always stronger in mind and
spirit than she realized - it just took Devil to show her the truth.
I loved both Felicity and Devil. They saved each other.I am waiting for
Witt and Grace's story. I wonder if Sarah will write about the other
brother-was he really wicked or just filled with guilt and misery
because he did Iove Grace and had lost her.

No wallflower
