Interesting premise, but doesn't work well as audiobook

Just too many spelling out of words and overuse of the same words over and over to work well as an audiobook. The premise is intriguing, but in the end seemed overly forced.

At points, I wondered if the author was even being serious, as some of the extrapolations are extreme and based on relatively shallow understanding. On several fronts, such as science, philosophy, religion, etc., the author shortchanges the complexity and nuance necessary to provide a realistic assessment and instead pushes a materialistic, technocratic paradigm without challenge. To what end? Certainly it doesn't seem to have much to do with and honest search for truth or a measured assessment of future developments.

The approach Pollan takes to explore different modes of food production is educational but even moreso entertaining. Every reader who hangs with the author all the way through is given a new foundation for making food choices.

This is an epic work, both the research, writing and narration. I found it to be compelling, educational and entertaining. Also, a fantastic job by the author with her narration.

The message in this book is good news. You can trust in God's goodness! All will be reconciled to Him in the end. None will be lost. After listening to this audiobook, I am inspired to uphold God's goodness, sharing this wonderful understanding to counter the harmful narratives involving eternal punishment or annihilation.

What an unexpected delight this audiobook turned out to be. It explains the root of our chronic disconnect in western culture that keeps us from feeling truly at home. A beautiful, thoughtful and deep treatise.

Greene guides the reader through an epic tour of his physicalist view of the world. Part science, part religion, and I would argue, part religion, Greene's masterful storytelling and intellectual integrity make for a gripping treatise.
