Story
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom. As internal political strife and a clash of cultures lead to seemingly inevitable conflict, Blackthorne’s loyalty and strength of character are tested by both passion and loss.

Story
The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history - how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Bill is a terrible audiobook reader
Reviewed: 11-10-23
This is a compelling story but certainly not anything new here. Rather a rerun of the incredibly well researched "Manhunt" book. Well structure but Bill O'Reilly has a terrible cadence to his sentences and although it clearly worked for him spitting anger on his old show, it doesn't work for audiobooks. Would have liked it much more if there was a different voice talent and the authors actually did some original research.

Story
After years of living abroad and covering the Global War on Terrorism, Luke Mogelson went home in early 2020 to report on the social discord that the pandemic was bringing to the fore across the US. An assignment that began with right-wing militias in Michigan soon took him to an uprising for racial justice in Minneapolis, then to antifascist clashes in the streets of Portland, and ultimately to an attempted insurrection in Washington, D.C. His dispatches for The New Yorker revealed a larger story with ominous implications for America. They were only the beginning.

Disney is so good, it's bad. So argues Carl Hiaasen, an award-winning investigative reporter and columnist with the Miami Herald, whose dream is to be banned forever from Disney World. In Team Rodent, Hiaasen provides an unflinching look at the mega-empire and says its attempts to alter "God's work" are a manifestation of "pure wickedness."

however, the recording quality of this WDW rant is so terrible that it took away from the fun. This is not investigative journalism but rather a tongue and cheek poke at WDW and some really awful things they've done and continue to do to Florida. think Vegas and what the desert in Nevada used to be before the bulldozers arrived. it's fun and classic CH. All good for a romp, just buy a decent microphone if you're going to do audiobooks!

Story
Carl Hiaasen doesn't like the Walt Disney Company. A native of Florida, Hiaasen comes by his dislike for Disney honestly. He has witnessed the relentless success of the Disney machine firsthand with the development of Disney World and other properties around Orlando. In Team Rodent, Hiaasen paints a witty and sarcastic portrait of a company that can control the press, manipulate local governments, and—because it's Disney—get away with it. Entertaining and enlightening, the book takes a critical view of the Disney corporate giant, tracing its destructive impact.
