Story
Deep in the mountains of West Virginia, Conor and his team are sheltering at the Banks Compound, desperate for some way to regain the momentum that billionaire Walter Lightspeed brought to the country. They’d been so close to recovery and now salvation slipped further away with each passing moment. Desperate for a ray of hope amidst their grim reality, the team launches a mission to find someone who might be able to bring new energy to the national recovery effort. Someone America knows and respects. Someone who clawed their way up from poverty to build an empire. Someone plainspoken and unquestionably patriotic.

Story
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

I really pray it wont happen but I think it is just a matter of when. This is a great story about normal folks dealing with the when.

Good info in a building story!
Reviewed: 08-27-19
First, ALL chapters ARE in order. The "Just So-So" review by DCgrits is not what I heard. The story has perfect continuity. (Whatever issue must have been fixed.) This isn't a war story...yet. But there is plenty of action. It's a paced build up through the realization things are getting bad and will most definitely will get worse. Good practical info is weaved in. And as end of the world tales go, stories like this involving illness and disease are truly the most likely...and most frightening!

Story
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

The only reason this gets a 4 overall is there was weird sorta of artifact in the sound through out the book. Not constant but enough that it was noticeable. It was wet squeaky sound. The story is great and RC is amazing as always. Can’t wait for the next chapter in the series.

Dazed, he takes the train the rest of the way, where he is quickly delighted by the presence of another rider, Courtney, whose smoldering smile makes him remember what it feels like to be wanted. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the publisher/author but voluntarily give my honest review.
This type of story really is not my cup of tea because there are no battles or living dead (hahaha) but Dan's narration was outstanding. His voice is rich and melodious. He captures the emotions of the characters quite well and the pacing is nice and even. The sound quality is excellent. I think people who like these types of tales of romance, intrigue and the struggles in life that can lead ordinary people into bad places will enjoy this story. I don't quite understand the the idea of leaving less than good reviews if you're not gonna take the time to say why. They story is "pretty good" and the narration by Dan Delgado is great. It's is certainly worth a listen!
