Loved! Full of Surprises
Reviewed: 03-26-25
I wondered how the book would be when we knew the ending. There were so many surprises! I already liked Haymitch, but this gave him the meaty character build he deserves and explained so much. This was just as good as the others. I hope there will be more!

Some books touch your soul and stay with you. I sobbed the last two hours, and you will too. I don't normally go for dramas, but this book is too good to not read in your lifetime. It's an incredible story of bravery and friendship. I laughed sometimes as well. The storytelling was superb, as was the narration. Thank you, Elizabeth Wein.

I love this whole series! I am normally more of a mysteries person, as I find other books boring and too slow usually, but this was engaging. It made me so happy, and also cry sometimes from the bravery of the people doing the best they can during a war. It is one of those books that stays with you afterwards. and gives me a warm glow just seeing the cover again. I wish there was more. I appreciated the adult novel, that didn't have "adult" scenes. I recommend this for anyone, be they 16 or 60.

Story
It's 1999, and Eira Hart and Ru Tattersall are set up to co-host The Lonely Harts Club, a new late-night radio show to help New Yorkers find love. It's a last chance attempt for both Eira, expert in Celtic mythology and amateur Welsh matchmaker, and Ru, once-hot-shot Aussie DJ, to achieve their New York dreams. The thing is, you either click with a co-host, or you don’t. It’s a bit like falling in love. There’s co-host chemistry, or there isn’t. With the countdown to a new millennium, it feels like the world as they know it is about to end.

Pros:
-Superb narration
-cute story line
-short
-quirky
-interesting facts
Cons:
-for me, it had too much "adult" references/scenes. I was expecting it to be a little more clean and was disappointed.
-I thought one of the "surprises" at the end was unbelievable and a cop out
I would still recommend this though, just a heads up you may want to skip ahead a few times

Another Fun One, Romance Dragged Out Too Long
Reviewed: 06-24-24
This was another great Cleopatra Fox mystery, with everything you'd expect, including, sadly, no relationship progress. After 8 books, I feel like the author has dragged it out beyond being realistic, or the rational of the character making sense. That's why I deducted a star. Good mystery, same perfect narration.
