Loved Loved Loved This Book - Fake Dating, he's grumpy, she's...well, not quite sunshine but definitely quirky. Small coastal town, small town issues. And the ex is back in town to make him miserable and stir the pot!
Andi Ardnt is a favorite narrator and her mixed with Kylie's stories is always the best treat.
Get your chowder, bread and your cheese treats and get cozy with this book 😋

Story
Huntsmen, according to the Church, were damned, their blood unclean, unholy. Yet for Rosemary and Aaron Harker the Church was less important than being ready to stand against the Uncanny as not being prepared could lead to being dead. The year is 1913. America—and the world—trembles on the edge of a modern age. Political and social unrest shift the foundations; technology is beginning to make its mark. But in the shadows, things from the past still move. Things inhuman, uncanny. And the Uncanny are no friend to humanity.

Holy crow.
"Everything is a myth until it kills someone."
I inhaled this book in a day. It reminded me of my favorite series, the Veronica Speedwell mysteries, mashed with one of my favorite shows, Supernatural. Following sibling Huntsmen Rosemary and Aaron, the author perfectly captures the ins and outs of sibling rivarly AND affection all while performing such casual things like...trying to kill something before it kills you.
The humor in this book is subtle and perfect. The uncanny range from inconvenient to downright terrifying. I really thought I knew what happened and had prided myself in solving the mystery...until that wasn't it at all. There is zero romance in this book, but as a lover of romance I only realized that after. This mystery keeps you guessing up until the very end!
Oh yeah, there's a dog! Botheration is my new favorite book beastie.
The two narrators did an amazing job and perfectly captured both characters.
(Note - Audible should be fixing this any day, but the chapters were initially put into Audible out of order. Clicking through real quick can confirm if your copy has this issue. When I reached out to OrangeSky, they (as well as Spotify) had it in the correct order, and I left five stars as this was no fault of the author or performers.

This story is so cleverly written!! The pacing, the humor, the intrigue levels are perfect. I personally love sex scenes and I mourned the opportunity to have one (*cough* several) so we'll written but this story was so good I could forget about it. ugh.

Story
Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She's tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she's a magnet for men who don't deserve her. A week's vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.

I liked the writing but there was no conflict???
Reviewed: 09-09-22
Also, no one seemed to mention that Sebastion York's voice for the heroine often trips into a southern accent vs English. It was a little distracting.
Overally I enjoyed this story. It's well written. It's entertaining. I did get frustrated that there's really no conflict/resolution. It just kinda ends.

Somehow the author is 7 books in and each book leaves me even more satisfied than the last. I anticipate no other books as much as I anticipate the next Speedwell novel, especially given where she left us at the end of this one!!

Snake companions. I absolutely love the sizzle between the main characters and the anticipation building. Love love love.
