Story
As the owner of the Cypress Hollow gas station and garage, Fiona Lynda is not one for pretty dresses or fussy make-up. In fact, most days she forgets to brush her hair. But she does have one guilty little secret - she's been in love with Abe Atwell for over 10 years. Problem is, Abe - the town's handsome harbormaster - barely knows she exists. But then Fiona petitions the council to demolish a deserted old lighthouse, just as Abe is equally determined to preserve the local landmark.

book really primarily sex....story line sounded ok
Reviewed: 03-05-17
What would have made Fiona's Flame: A Cypress Hollow Yarn better?
better narrator for the man's lead....gruff doesn't make a man's voice.
Author could have written a novella instead.
Would you ever listen to anything by Rachael Herron again?
Absolutely not.....just too much sex. What happened to good story lines ?
What didn’t you like about Barbara Edelman’s performance?
her women were good, but the men's voices were pathetic.... only gruff, growly
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Initially the story line sounded interesting, but whoa !
Any additional comments?
This story line could have been complete in much fewer pages....too long.

Story
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

author is frequently difficult to understand

What did you love best about God Is Not Great?
I liked that much of the information was backed by facts. You could have the bible open to you while listening and check his comments on bible's chapters, lines.
Would you be willing to try another one of Christopher Hitchens’s performances?
I don't think so. I'd prefer if someone else was the narrator. Hitchen was frequently hard to understand. His speech pattern was almost too fast, words slurred. In the beginning of the book, it was satisfactory....but this book is 500 pages so maybe he just got "tired" .
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. too much to absorb in one sitting. This book is 8 hours plus... listening.
Any additional comments?
I bought the hard copy after listening to the audio. I like the idea of having the book in my hands for reference.
