About this listen

The latest sizzling romantic comedy from the author of the best-selling Cypress Hollow novels. She's carried a torch for him for years. Now they're both feeling the heat. As the owner of the Cypress Hollow gas station and garage, Fiona Lynda is not one for pretty dresses or fussy make-up. In fact, most days she forgets to brush her hair. But she does have one guilty little secret - she's been in love with Abe Atwell for over 10 years. Problem is, Abe - the town's handsome harbormaster - barely knows she exists. But then Fiona petitions the council to demolish a deserted old lighthouse, just as Abe is equally determined to preserve the local landmark. But why does Fiona want to tear down the building that was once her childhood home? And why is Abe, whose father drowned in the lighthouse's shadow, so desperate to save it? Battle lines are drawn - just as the spark between them is finally ignited.

I wrote to Rachael about the previous book that the narrator wasn't as good for these stories as Carrington but I guess it was already a done deal since Fiona's Flame came out soon after. I have to say the narrator almost killed it for me with her mans voice sounding like an octogenarian who smoked a pack a day for 70yrs. I sure hope that Ms. MacDuffie is brought back for any further books.
If you have the time to read a book I suggest kindle or hard copy for the last two books.

Narration almost spoiled the book.

All of the books in this series are good. I love them all and how they tie in together. I hope there are more.

Enjoyed the romance of the book. Which kept me in suspense wanted me to keep reading it when I couldn't. Could have left out the some of the words.

I enjoyed listening to and reading this book.

What would have made Fiona's Flame: A Cypress Hollow Yarn better?

better narrator for the man's lead....gruff doesn't make a man's voice.
Author could have written a novella instead.

Would you ever listen to anything by Rachael Herron again?

Absolutely not.....just too much sex. What happened to good story lines ?

What didn’t you like about Barbara Edelman’s performance?

her women were good, but the men's voices were pathetic.... only gruff, growly

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Initially the story line sounded interesting, but whoa !

Any additional comments?

This story line could have been complete in much fewer pages....too long.

book really primarily sex....story line sounded ok
