I absolutely loved this book. It was grabbing from the get go. I generally don’t enjoy multiple narrators but it added to the captivation for me on this one. I found myself listening to this all the time. Highly recommend.

Story
My little girl’s room is dark. Her bed is empty. I turn on her unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know who did this. His name is Samuel Barlow. He has pale sallow skin and red-rimmed icy-blue eyes. But no one will listen. As darkness falls and rain lashes against the window, there’s a knock at my door and I open it to see those same eyes staring back at me. It’s his mother and she says she can help me find my daughter.

I thought this was a great storyline. It got easy to figure out after a while but it was still captivating. I could see this as a movie. I don’t care for British accents which is why I gave 3 stars for performance.

Story
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

This was a good read. The storyline was captivating and the end was not seen coming. The narration was good but I gave it only 3 stars due to the phone call narration. I did not like the choice to narrate phone calls in a phone call narration. It was distracting to listen to. Overall a good book that I would recommend.

This book had a great beginning. It was captivating from the get go which is a plus for me because I can lose interest so quickly. The book as a whole was a little more detailed than I like but I never lost interest. The ending was very surprising. I enjoy a storyline where you can’t see it coming and this one did that. Would recommend.

Very well worth the read. The end had me very captivated and I didn’t want to stop listening. I don’t typically care for English accent narrators. However, the storyline made the accent inconsequential and I hardly noticed after a while. Highly recommend.

I get really invested in the characters of any book I read. I was quickly invested in all of these characters. Some of the storyline was appalling and I find it repulsive that it actually happened as written. My heart breaks for anyone who had to endure this. This storyline is a good example of what too much government power can do and will stay in my mind for a very long time. I definitely recommend everyone read this book.
