Hearing the beginning of the partnership of Smallhope and Pennyroyal was great good fun.
As always, Ms Taylor breathes life into her characters. I have listened to all of her time travel works and enjoyed them all immensely. This is like wonderful icing on a fabulous cake. DON'T MISS IT!

Story
Lord Rosemorran has purchased a wax figure of a beautiful reclining woman and asks Stoker to incorporate a clockwork mechanism to give the Rosemorran Collection its own Sleeping Beauty in the style of Madame Tussaud’s. But when Stoker goes to cut the mannequin open to insert the mechanism, he makes a gruesome discovery: this is no wax figure. The mannequin is the beautifully preserved body of a young woman who was once very much alive. But who would do such a dreadful thing, and why?

Each Veronica Speedwell story is uniquely interesting. The plot always involves some arcane fact about the time period in which it is set. And, of course, the narration brings life to the narrative. I am looking forward to the next book.

Story
Shadowvale isn’t typical small-town America. The sun never shines, the gates decide who enters, magic abounds, and every resident bears some kind of curse. No one knows this as well as raven shifter Deacon Evermore, who, like everyone in his family, has a curse. While his position as Shadowvale’s peacekeeper lets him use that curse for good, he’d rather live anywhere else. He stays for his family but doubts he can last much longer.

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

As with all the Dresden books, the story holds your interest throughout. Mr. Butcher never fails to introduce new characters that are unique and add to the Dresden world of denizens.
