In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. Overall, I loved this story and didn’t want to stop consuming it until I finished the final word. This book has action, adventure, suspense, and so much more.
I did read some of the book, I mostly listened to the audio and thought there could be a lot of room for improvement with the narrator. There seemed to be inconsistency with the narration in the sound quality - parts were obviously re-recorded and inserted in the middle of a narrative or the sound changed. The narrator also seemed to not have a clear voice for part of the book then all of a sudden it is clear; I wondered if it was a different person for a minute. The narrator had to take long pauses where there should not be one to breath (and this can be heard) due to her stuffy nose.
Overall, it’s a great story! I’m looking forward to the next in series.

Story
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

These are heartfelt, fast-paced stories that I didn’t want to stop listening to. The characters are what have me loving these stories so much. The main characters are complex, interesting, with flaws making them realistic and believable. The characters drive these stories and had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. The narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life and giving each their own unique voice. I ran through several emotions while listening to these stories from anger, crying, and laughing. It was a fun and entertaining listen.
