About this listen

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia

Just when Sadie Sexton is starting to settle into her new routine in Hoochville, she learns of a decades’ old secret that her grandmother’s friends have been keeping from her. Now it’s up to her and Clementine Parker to help Marcia Murphy, a woman in need, escape town. Marcia has one request on her way out of town; she begs Sadie and Clem to check on her prized Chinese Crested show dog.

Everything goes to hell in a handbasket when Sadie and Clem arrive at Marcia’s residence and find Daniel Murphy’s dead body in the yard. Now Marcia is the number one suspect in his murder, and Sadie and Clem might just be on the hook for aiding and abetting a murderer if they can’t get Marcia to come back to town.

With a power-hungry DA on the case, Sadie and her friends find themselves navigating the world of competitive show dogs while trying to discover what happened to Daniel. And they quickly find out that confronting blue-ribbon-hungry dog owners is almost as hairy as trying to stay out of prison.

I need these friends!

I am loving this group of characters. The southern phrases make me snicker, and trying to figure out what they will do next keeps your interest. These are people you know and women you would love to count as your friends. The mystery is good, and has the twist we are looking for at the end, but for me it is these characters. Next book please.

Such a fun and exciting read!

The MC is very curious, and ends up sticking her nose in where the Sheriff doesn't want her to go. The yarn store she runs with her sister is also a haven for abused women who need to get away from their husbands. A very noble effort, but problems sometimes cause her to get in too deep. The character development and the relationships formed by the characters is so much fun to go through with them all. The narrator does an amazing job of bringing each and every character to life. This is a great cozy mystery series which gets better with each book. Can't wait for the next book in this fun series.

Book 2

Another great addition to the Sadie Sexton mystery series. I truly enjoyed both the story and the narration. I feel as if I had been transported Hoochville.

Sadie is back!

It's never a dull moment in Hoochville! Take a dead body, add a little bit of wedding planning and a whole lot of show dogs and you'll be wondering who done it as you race through town with Sadie. This story kept me laughing and entertained. I love the relationships Sadie shares with her besties, and even Elvis the opossum is growing on me! I feel like I'm part of the story and can't wait to see what Sadie and friends get up to next.

Everyone does a great job as usual.

Buttons and Blackmail (A Sadie Sexton Hoochville Mystery) 11/15/24 5 stars
Marcia

Her inheritance stipulations were filled with surprises. She and her friends want to continue the good deeds even with her relative absent. Would they have moved forward if they'd seen their future?

There was never a dull moment. Her support system was ready and willing to help. This new team has started with a fun, sometimes funny series I'm enjoying. You will, too. Each mystery can stand alone. I've read the next and am waiting (hint hint)

Dog show mayhem

When a dog show becomes deadly.
Ohh this one was a fun return to Hoochville.
Sadie and Clementine finds themselves in trouble after helping an abused wife escape her marriage. The two busybodies waste no time trying to solve the mystery with a side of dog show and adorable dogs with hilarious names. I laughed several times at the mayhem that ensued in the story. The narrator, Tiffany Morgan did a wonderful job portraying Sadie, Reed, and many of the moving characters in the story. The tones and inflections were spot on and I was never confused with the voices. Very well done.

Loved it

Buttons and Blackmail is the second book in the brand-new A Sadie Sexton Hoochville Mystery series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. This story picks up a week or so after the events of Alpacas and Alibis, the first book in the series. I just loved getting to see these characters again. They just find themselves in the craziest situations and it's just hysterical at times. Sadie is just such a loveable character and you just scratch your head at some of the situations she gets herself into. Her thought process sometimes is just so unique and she is just one of a kind. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what else she will get herself into.

Yay! Love this new series.

I was so excited that this book came out as quick as it did. It was another fantastic story. I want to be best friends with Sadie and work in the yarn shop with her, it sounds like such a blast. I enjoyed hearing about another mystery that she managed to solve and all the mischief her and her friends get into.
I can’t wait for the next in the series and can only hope it will come out soon.
