Story
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

I laughed out loud every time Duchess spoke but at the same time my heart hurt for her. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so close to “sobbing” when listening to a book… that moment with her grandfather… the ending was so sad and yet, so promising. Hard to identify who was talking at the beginning but it got easier as you identified the characters. Lots of unexpected twists and turns… which made it even better.

I always saw Demi as a beautiful, strong, confident and powerful woman. We all have insecurities and deal with them differently. Glad she has found peace with herself. Her story definitely reminded me of situations in my life that I’ve tried to forget but need to accept and move forward.
