While I enjoyed the stories I find that having narrators that don’t sound anything close to Davina Portor’s portrayal of Jamie Fraser, Ian Murray or Lord John Grey detracted from my enjoyment of said stories.

I’m so glad I listened to this book. In many ways I feel like I know Matty intimately.
I’ve loved the honesty in this story. At times it was so very hard to keep listening. I was in tears. Friends was always (& still is) my favorite show. I’m happy that Matt was able to fight past his demons & finish the show.
I pray that Matt’s fight for sobriety continues & that he finally finds a love 💕 interest to share the rest of his life’s journey with.

I’ve enjoyed this book tremendously! I also bought the hard copy. My 1 disappointment is that the hard copy didn’t have enough pictures of this amazing adventure.
Listening to Sam brought him as a person to life. I realized that while I fell in love with Jamie Fraser, Sam Heughan is most love-able as himself.
A great read. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

March, 1815. The Bourbon King Louis XVIII has been restored to the throne of France, Napoleon is in exile on the isle of Elba, and Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, and his wife, Hero, have traveled to Paris in hopes of tracing his long-lost mother, Sophie, the errant Countess of Hendon. But his search ends in tragedy when he comes upon the dying Countess in the wasteland at the tip of the Île de la Cité. Stabbed—apparently with a stiletto—and thrown from the bastions of the island's ancient stone bridge, Sophie dies without naming her murderer.

Poor Narrator
Reviewed: 09-27-22
I love this series. The historical context is fascinating. I don’t like Jenny Sterling as the narrator. She doesn’t get the different characters right. I’m so used to Davina Porter as the narrator that I had to start listening to this book 3 times before I could force myself to continue to the end. I’m not really looking forward to the next book because of the narrator. I’m still a fan of C. S. Harris.

Susan Duerden is one of the worst narrators I’ve ever had the misfortune of listening to. The first novel by Julia Quinn narrated by Rosalyn Landor was as delightful as all of the other novels by this team. I can’t even finish this book because of the 2nd narrator. Very disappointing.

I rarely write a review, however I’m compelled to for this novel. While the fiction is entertaining the story of elephants & the way they grieve brought me to tears. Have a hanky or a full box of Kleenex available. The historical value of this novel is invaluable to animal lovers everywhere. Jodi Picoult is an amazing author.
