About this listen

In the course of her everyday work, career-driven assistant district attorney Nina Frost prosecutes child molesters and works determinedly to ensure that a legal system with too many loopholes keeps these criminals behind bars. But when her own five-year-old son, Nathaniel, is traumatized by a sexual assault, Nina and her husband, Caleb, a quiet and methodical stone mason, are shattered, ripped apart by an enraging sense of helplessness in the face of a futile justice system that Nina knows all too well.

In a heartbeat, Nina's absolute truths and convictions are turned upside down, and she hurtles toward a plan to exact her own justice for her son - no matter the consequence, whatever the sacrifice.

As I listened I found it difficult to reconcile the decisions the characters made. It is a story well told, as Picoult does so well.

Jodi Picoult sure can weave a tale

It's not her best book but it was a good distraction from the mundane commute.

Huge Picoult fan but not my favorite.

Must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Clearly defined characters, excellent storyline which kept you guessing. Think it would make a great movie.

Another Picoult success!

My first Picoult book!

maybe I've read/listened to too many of her books, but her foreshadowing was too obvious in this one. The twists aren't twisty enough.

Not her best story.

I didn't expect the ending and those are always the best kind of books

I loved the narration. The ending threw me!

Jodi Picoult writes amazing books. I haven’t read one so far that I haven’t absolutely loved! There are twists and turns in this story but it’s not overdramatized. The readers of the story did an amazing job and kept me engaged the entire time. I highly recommend!

Such a good book!!

Every mother wants to be the Very Best Possible Mother for her children. Tho being your best often means taking three steps back to view the scope of the activities before lying down the law. Ms Picoult is back to full enrolling dedication making sure each ingredient of this story pulled me in hook line & sinker. And true to form it's amazing for I stayed completely attentive - never wanting to miss the final last polishing twist of justice. Pretty darn good story.....

This book was full of twists and turns! Just when you think it cannot make another turn, it does! I would have totally done the same thing if I were in Nina’s shoes!

Excellent!
