I read JT Leroy stuff when I was really young and felt seen. Going back to it now in audio form is comforting, homely. Most people who are 'normal' will find it absurd and evil, but for me, who lived a life similar to JT... It feels like going home.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Story
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

I always loved the authors music but getting into this universe of hers is really fantastic and it adds so much depth to her albums! I just simply loved every second, even when I had to pause cause things got a bit too dark.

This is not an audiobook. I am a massive buffy fan, ever since I was a kid, and it breaks my heart that this wasn't as good as it could have been. The writing is pretty bad, its quite repetitive, they will explain something that just happened again and again, I love the places its trying to go plot wise, but unfortunately it just doesnt work ... The lack of narration makes it extremely confusing and the excessive grunting and moaning is kinda weird. Also, a bit too melodramatic for my taste. But it truly is lovely to hear these voices again, especially Dru, its a shame this was so amateurishly written.
