I Was Never Bored!
Reviewed: 02-20-24
Many times with a book. There is a slow start to develop a plot or a boring section in the middle of the book that I have no idea why they even included it, but not so with “The Power of Habit!” I learned so much. This book was so well written, and it held my attention even captivated me right down to the appendix, and after thoughts. It was still teaching me even then. If you want to be inspired to change your life or even kick just 1 bad habit I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. The narrator was also very good! It was so interesting I bought Charles Duhiggs newest book “Super Communicators” just released today. This is also a great book to gift, friends, and family. Enjoy.

Story
Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

This Book Would Make a Fun Movie/Girls Night Out!!
Reviewed: 12-07-23
Of all the audiobooks, I’ve listened to. This is by far the BEST narrating I have ever heard. In fact, I question if this is really all the same woman. Her ability to change her voice to suit the different characters, absolutely makes this a fun book to listen to. It’s Clean✨ (which is hard to find these days.) While it does broach the topic (briefly) of unfair treatment in the south between races it does not dwell on it, but rather, it shows the beautiful act of human compassion from a 12-year-old girl towards her beloved Oletta. The eclectic group of southern women in this book is what makes it so fun. I highly recommend Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. It’s got all the feels from despair, compassion, caregiving, loving, justice, and forgiveness. 5 easy stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Not only did I buy it but I’ve gifted it as well. Enjoy your escape to the Deep South and these Southern Belles will surely make you smile.

Moral Dilemma For Me
Reviewed: 08-14-23
The storyline of this book was interesting enough to keep my attention for several hours, but a problem I find in many cases is before I buy a book, I read all reviews looking for warnings from other readers to see if there is a moral issue or tons of foul language and if I see that I will not buy the book. It is for this reason that I am writing this review in case you have similar values. I understand this is a sensitive topic and everyone has a right to choose how they want to live. I would never force my beliefs on anyone else, but I do ask for the same respect in return. For those not comfortable with a romantic relationship between two men or two women then I would advise against this book as there is a male bartender that she is helping set up romantically with another man. So, although I found the storyline interesting, I opted to return this title because of this conflict with my own personal Bible based values.

Story
Emmeline lives on a remote island with her father, who teaches her about the natural world through her senses. What he won’t explain are the mysterious scents stored in glass bottles that line the walls of their cabin, or the origin of the machine that creates them. As Emmeline grows, however, so too does her curiosity, until one day the unforeseen happens, and Emmeline is vaulted out into the real world—a place of love, betrayal, ambition, and revenge. To understand her past, Emmeline must unlock the clues to her identity.

Excellent Author! I think you’d like this book. It’s different than anything I’ve ever read. It was intriguing… albeit different. The author had a descriptive way of telling the story and I found it fascinating; the word pictures that popped into my head were so vivid. (*There are a few expletives in the book that I didn’t like but thankfully they were few & far between.) The narrator might take a bit to get used to, but give her a chance. Her voice grates on you at first, but by middle of book you can tell she’s just trying to make the story come alive with different character voices, and that she did! So if you’re looking for a good new author try *Erica Bauermeister. Very well written!

I love a clean, cozy read with good vibes. I thought I had found it and was truly enjoying this story. Jo Thomas is an excellent writer who creates a mental escape to different countries and this time it was to France. She’s so good at painting a mental picture and this narrator was perfect! She used different accents for different characters and she made this story come to life. My only hang up is that usually if a storyline is going to present a moral dilemma for me it is usually introduced early in the book and I stop reading it. However in this book “a situation” was introduced 3/4 of the way through that I did not like. It was not sexualized or that would have caused me to stop reading it immediately but a stolen kiss to someone else’s spouse is still wrong to me (and infidelity is always wrong no matter how someone tries to justify it.) So for that reason I dropped to 4 stars but this would’ve been 5 stars if it didn’t have that situation in the storyline. Also as a side note there is reference to a ghost but there is not one (and it was fairly obvious which is why I waited and I was right.) To some, like myself, that also would have meant book returned because I don’t mess with anything spiritistic. Overall, Jo Thomas is 1 of my favorite writers. (I highly recommend “Chasing the Italian Dream.” No moral dilemmas involved 😊.)

(((FINALLY))) A FEEL GOOD BOOK WITH ALL THE FEELS. Loved it!

I was looking for a CLEAN and REFRESHING storyline that didn’t make me uncomfortable. (PG rating I’d say.) I needed a mental escape that would take me to Italy in my mind with a feel good story attached. After returning 2 books that were laced with profanity and sexual situations that took away from the narrative. I was so happy to have found an author that could actually keep my attention by writing a great novel with an interesting plot, a beautiful setting and a story line with values, without the smut. (Ironically the opening line is a curse word but there was not a single bad word for the rest of the book.) This book was a mental vacation and escape to Italy. The Narrator Gwyneth Keyworth was awesome!!! She made the story come alive in a way that makes me wish they’d turn this book into a movie. She was brilliant & my 5 stars go equally towards her too. I sincerely enjoyed the positive vibes from the author on how we must keep going in life despite obstacles and overcome adversity. I loved the role women played in this book and their camaraderie. This is also a foodie story that reminded me of the movie “The 100 Foot Journey” so if you liked that movie then you’ll love this book. I certainly did!!! I was so impressed by this author that I’m going to choose another of hers and hope it’s as good.
