unforgettable characters that remained with me for a good while after finishing this totally marvelous story especially Vianne the quiet heroine. the graphic accounts in France after the German occupation can be hard to listen to all the suffering and abject cruelty that was imposed by the German soldiers leaves one s bit shaken. worth every bit of my credit.

all the characters were unique but Benny of course stole the show and her friendship with Eve.

the abrupt ending left me a tad disappointed would have liked to know what happened between Jack and Benny just love a happy ending. I enjoyed the story so much that I did not want it to end there. it just begged for a sequel.

Story
Thirty years have passed since Greta left Marchmont Hall, a grand and beautiful house nestled in the hills of rural Monmouthshire. But when she returns to the Hall for Christmas she has no recollection of her past association with it – the result of a tragic accident that has blanked out more than two decades of her life. Then, during a walk through the wintry landscape, she stumbles across a grave in the woods and the weathered inscription on the headstone tells her that a little boy is buried here.

Story
Alaska, 1974. Untamed. Unpredictable. A story of a family in crisis struggling to survive at the edge of the world, it is also a story of young and enduring love. Cora Allbright and her husband, Ernt, a recently returned Vietnam veteran scarred by the war, uproot their 13-year-old daughter, Leni, to start a new life in Alaska. Utterly unprepared for the weather and the isolation, but welcomed by the close-knit community, they fight to build a home in this harsh, beautiful wilderness.
