Story
When Anna Hartley’s husband, Henry, calls her with a terrible, guilty confession, she can’t believe what she hears. It has to be a bad joke—the mild, predictable artist she married would never hurt a fly, let alone commit murder. But her confusion turns to horror when police find his body washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande.

Really enjoyed the apartment crew, don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say great character development, and I enjoyed it a lot! A little mystery, but enjoyed how it all came together.

Story
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.

Story
Widower Luke Driskell didn’t expect to fall in love and marry again so quickly. But Ashley and her daughter, Joy, are special—a quality borne out when Ashley rushes into a burning day-care center to save the children. Immediately she’s a social media sensation and hero. Then, just as suddenly, Ashley and Joy disappear into the bitterly cold night. With no trace of their whereabouts, Luke begins a panicked investigation. Alarmingly, he can find no proof that the woman he loves even exists. Left behind: just a hidden stash of fake IDs. Different names. Different cities. Same haunted face.

What a nice surprise!
Reviewed: 08-09-24
First time for this author. I needed a break from the typical psychological suspense and murder mysteries I normally read. They can get a little dark. This was a nice surprise for something in between. Loved the faith aspect, you don’t really see that much these days. Didn’t try to figure it out, just enjoyed the ride. Some said too many details, but it was a short read, so not sure how that was possible. I thought it was an interesting story with good character development for such a short read. Enjoyed it a lot overall.

Favorite Audible book ever. Hands down. LOVED the characters, the story and the narration. Was dying to hear how it ended, but was sad when it finally did. My only complaint is the pronunciation of PE-can. Being from the south, it drove me crazy. It’s pecan (pe-cahn) ha. But I do realize that’s not the same for everybody. :) Truly loved this book and was as ready for flash backs as I was present day story line. Beautiful story. You won’t be sorry you listened (or read). Definitely worth a credit, and so glad I didn’t skip this one! Didn’t see it coming, but was so interested in the plot that I didn’t even try. First book by this author, but it most definitely won’t be the last.

And I loved Atlas. Loved how the author dealt with the subject matter that was difficult yet so well written, explaining how to keep swimming. :) You could tell the author went thru it, understanding the topic of abuse….the loud parts and the quiet. I think I enjoyed the second book better than the first…but loved them both. Took me awhile to read them, I don’t really trust reviews much these days. But so glad I finally did.
