About this listen

Before . . .

Life is idyllic for Julie Porter and her husband Owen. They've bought their dream house in the Berkshires; their careers are on the upswing; and they have the world at their fingertips. They've never been so in love. They've never been happier. The only thing that's missing is a baby—but Julie's got a plan, and they're right on schedule.

Until Owen falls ill with food poisoning, leaving Julie to attend a neighborhood holiday party alone. When she wakes up, half-naked in her neighbor's bathtub, Julie doesn't know how to tell Owen, the police, her friends—anyone—that she has been sexually assaulted. So she keeps it secret until she realizes that she's pregnant with her assailant's baby.

After . . .

Life is unmanageable for Julie. She can't function in the world with a newborn, and she's unable to be present for her husband, her family, her friends. Desperate to solve the mystery of what happened to her, Julie's driven to more and more erratic behavior, until the truth about that night is revealed. Afterward, no one will be the same ever again. Not Owen. Not the baby. And especially not Julie.

Sad story

Strange and requires a lot of reprocessing of story after the ending. Trigger warnings on this book for sure, it’s just a sad story. Well done but let me in tears.

Unique and engrossing

Wow! When I finished this book all I could think as I wiped the one steady tear that had been trailing down my face was “wow.” This book is the first book in a couple of months that I could not stop listening to. The story is extremely well told, the main character is very well developed and seems real, and the narration is well done. First book in a long time that I can’t stop talking about. Can’t wait for the next Meghan Joyce Tozer book.

Life and the unexpected

A story of a young couple whose lives are torn apart too early. It ends differently than I expected, but a very interesting story.
Very well written and the Narrator was very good.

An enjoyable, unique 5 star domestic thriller

Night, Forgotten, my first read from author Meghan Joyce Tozer. A 7-hour 16-minute/265-page domestic thriller, If you like N.L. Hinkens or James Caine then you'll like Meghan Joyce Tozer! "I purchased an Audible Daily Deal copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I'll be reading more from this author as she publishes them. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Wait till the end!

The story was a good one. I was trying to figure out which person did it but wasn't even close (about anything)! The End got me so good that a couple days days later I listened to it again so I could really pay attention to what was really being said! Just as good the second time around!

Long journey to a meh ending.

Decent ending, but a tedious time getting there. Narrator was monotonous with no range in emotion.
