I loved how this honest lifebook story was written. It was about a life that grew from ashes to a hopeful beauty and continued to help grow those around her. There were so many compelling characters and an engaging writing style. My favorite character was Mama Love. The plot twists kept me guessing until the very end. This book left me deeply moved and pondering the complexities of the lives of the other inmates and people I know who have not risen from their ashes.... yet

I read this book with my egroup of women from around the US. Our facilitator was from Elevation Church. Pastor Steve Furtick for me was able to capture the essence of what it means to love God in the midst of all your life challenges and struggles through his teachings. And that He is able to sustain you wherever you're at in your life. The choice of salvation, being born again he proved outweighs every sacrifice this world or voices tries to offer. This book was performed as if you were hearing him bring his message directly to you. Having Pastor Holly in each chapter of the videos with others and questions for discussion made it even more powerful.

I recommend this book to everyone. You will be amazed how the Holy Spirit in each chapter captures your heart and mind for the good.

Well Done Pastor Steve🙏🏾👏🏾🙌🏽

The story line faltered for me due to the quality of the similar voices portrayed of the families. The families lives were similar in life and living which for me intermingled and got lost at times. Not until the end of the book did I understand the journey of Digby, Elsie and her mom, the main characters.

I read this book with one of my daughters. It was a very sad well written and author narrated autobiography of a young boy's life. Due to heroin addicted parents was never able to gain life skill sets for maturing to be a productive adult. He had older brothers who as well were only products of the street gang society . Due to his love for his mom, brother and cousin was unable to escape his past or their connection.. He found himself back, but worse than he started due to his record. Unable to escape his record, he states he was accused of killing a prison guard and now on death row. He wrote this book to help others not make the same life decisions and understand his story.

The Viola Davis Memoir was one of the most amazing books of my collection. I loved every single chapter of her book and hated when it ended. Some of her memories reminded me of my own upbringing. She was able with her own struggles remind me that I too can continue to be Strong, Courageous and Fearless till the end of life. That God's plan for our lives has many chapters or seasons. We must never stop fighting for the plan of God for our life and that of our family.

The narration of her own voice was powerful and made her memoir come so much more alive. It drew you into her story making you part of the set. Her ups and downs became yours as well. The quality of her writing is superb.

In knowing that this was her life she was sharing made me love her even more as an actress/actor She to me wrote this book as if it was a movie role she needed to convey to an audience. I really cannot say enough about how her book touched me.

I encourage all who love a passionate true story of a life full of struggle, difficulties, abuse and unbelief of better days. To read this family memoir of forgiveness, pain, overcoming insurmountable crises to finally learn and know who you are in the end.

Thank you Viola for sharing your heart o all who read. I feel somewhat not right in saying this because it was mostly all struggles of your life. But needful for me to say and you and know.

Your book to me is a MASTERPIECE OF WORK!❣️🙏🏾

Thank You!

I was confused at first when I started reading. I was debating with my daughter of whether Robbie was just a child with many questions or did he have mental challenges. The more I listened the more I understood Robbie was very special and aware of a world I didn't understand. He never understood our world. Our world and the people were unkind to him because he was different and never fit in. A lot like our world today...not much has changed even though we are advanced and aware. In the end Robbie was always seeking a safe place or universe to live, communicate, be loved and find his mom through the help of his dad and scientist. His dad after the loss of his wife and now son needed that same space and found it with the help of who he thought was his adversary but was his families true friend in the end. Great descriptive, emotional and empathetic written book.

I enjoyed this book because of the many favorite encouraging scriptures. It is one that I could listen to over and over again.

I do wish that Susie Larson had narrated her own book.
