I Need To Lay Down...
Reviewed: 05-09-18
Dark Queen finishes the story arc that has been growing in the last few books of this series. Faith Hunter mentioned that this was supposed to be the last book in the series and she was almost done writing the book when her publisher ordered two more books. Therefore Faith said there will be a cliffhanger and goodness gracious what a cliffhanger!
Since the first book Skinwalker till now we have seen Jane develop and grow from being a lone cat/beast to having a varied group of individuals who are now her family and friends. Jane is a protector and will do anything to save those that she loves. Jane still has insecurities and doubts herself throughout this book, but I think that is what makes her realistic, more believable in my opinion.
Faith Hunter is a wonderful, brilliant, funny, and a downright cruel author (and I mean that in a positive way) as the Dark Queen is an emotional rollercoaster for the listeners. Seriously, by the end of this book, I needed to lay down. The book is that good! I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens.
Khristine Hvam once again does an outstanding job narrating Dark Queen. I honestly don’t think there is anyone better to tell this story than Khristine Hvam as she has voiced the series from the start and has brought the words of Faith Hunter to life.

If you could sum up Heart of Venom in three words, what would they be?
I want more!!!!
What did you like best about this story?
I like how Jennifer Estep delves a little more into the family that Gin Blanco’s friends who are like a family for her. It was nice to get more information into Sophia Deveraux past and why she is the way she is.
What about Lauren Fortgang’s performance did you like?
Lauren Fortgang rocks. Narrator can either make or break a story on audiobooks and Lauren adds to the story with her smooth voice and wonderful story telling abilities.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Thank heavens for coffee cause I listened to this book all the way through. But it was worth the lack off sleep and grumpiness the next day.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, but I would advise my friend to read the other books first to put everything in perspective.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Thirteen?
If I told you that would ruin the story. But lets just say Savannah and Adam!
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many to name.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did. Lol.
Any additional comments?
I will miss this series. It is the final one in the Otherworld series, the story left me wanting more. I will miss you!

Story
Fang Kattalakis isn't just a wolf. He is the brother of two of the most powerful members of the Omegrion: the ruling council that enforces the laws of the Were-Hunters. And when war erupts among the lycanthropes, sides must be chosen. Enemies are forced into shaky alliances. And when the woman Fang loves is accused of betraying her people, her only hope is that Fang believes in her. Yet in order to save her, Fang must break the law of his people and the faith of his brothers. That breech could very well spell the end of both their races and change their world forever.

Story
This is what happened: I met him at the candy store. He turned and smiled at me and I was surprised enough to smile back. This was not a children's candy store, mind you, this was the kind of place you went to buy expensive imported chocolate truffles for your boss' wife because you felt guilty for having sex with him when you were both at a conference in Milwaukee.
