Story
In the wake of Donnyton's challenge, Randidly makes preparations for his planet's future. All his cunning and crafting ingenuity flow into Kharon, the mechanical city. All his knowledge of metallurgy, engraving, and the System will shape this grand project. And if his theory proves true, the result will be much more alchemy than mechanism. While Randidly Ghosthound has plans, so does the Nexus. During his next Judgement, an extra consequence is applied; he is kidnapped from Earth and taken to the outer reaches of the Nexus proper.

Very thick.
Reviewed: 12-05-24
I enjoyed the story and reading, overall I would say the story was very thick in descriptions locations, as well as characters. I almost got lost, but the reading called me back. Particularly when I took into account time dilation. it helped to keep me sane.

Story
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

I enjoy it one way or the other
Reviewed: 11-05-24
This is the second time that I’ve read this book. The first time I read it the second time I listen to it on audible and the story becomes even more thrilling. It makes me question some of what I read the first time did I really read it or was that just pacing myself through it, either way I enjoyed it otherwise, I would not have picked it up again.

Story
Fischer has everything he needs in life: blossoming friendships, a menagerie of cute animal companions, a waterfront property with easy access to fishing, and enough coffee to take out a small elephant or a really big dog. Unfortunately, Fischer can’t catch a break. Cosmic forces? Still throwing curveballs. The bigwigs in the capital? Starting to sniff around his business. Cults? Still culting. Plus, awakened beings are washing up on his shores like flotsam after a storm. And worst of all? His coffee guy ghosted him!

This story left me feeling happy and full of joy and wonder. With the cast of characters from cuddling to disgruntle crabs, such as rocky. I think the characters grew me in more than the main protagonist.

Story
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.
