Publisher's summary

Power is returning to the world after millennia, ancient constructs are stirring back to life, and one man is doing his best to ignore all that noise.

Fischer has everything he needs in life: blossoming friendships, a menagerie of cute animal companions, a waterfront property with easy access to fishing, and enough coffee to take out a small elephant or a really big dog.

Unfortunately, Fischer can’t catch a break. Cosmic forces? Still throwing curveballs. The bigwigs in the capital? Starting to sniff around his business. Cults? Still culting. Plus, awakened beings are washing up on his shores like flotsam after a storm. And worst of all? His coffee guy ghosted him!

It’s a lot for one heretical fisherman to handle. Thankfully, Fischer isn’t alone. Between his trusty guard crab, a mischievous otter who can wreathe herself in lightning, and an adorable bunny eager to solve every problem with a roundhouse kick, he’ll be just fine . . . probably.

The second volume of the laugh-out-loud LitRPG adventure series—a #1 Rising Star on Royal Road with more than three million views—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Critic reviews

“I can’t think of a single story I’d rather get truck-kun’d (truck-kunned?) into than [that of] the vivid, lush world portrayed in Heretical Fishing, especially if I can hang out with Fischer and his gang. . . . The best book I’ve read this year.” —Matt Dinniman, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl

I ❤ every minute! Feel the joy of casting your line out to catch a big one...

Once again Haylock Jobson and Heath Miller take center stage as they transport us to their fantasy world. This book is about Fischer and his entourage of Animal Pals and the Humans that have joined him in their path to Ascension to leave the bounds that their physical bodies would indicate to go beyond and gain the chi, and power needed! Again as I mentioned in the last book this is all about the love of fishing, of cooking and really it's about the love of sharing and eating the food cooked! 😋 And I loved every minute of it. You're gonna hafta grab this book to enjoy Heretical Fishing. To cast a line out to catch the big one.

Here's a couple of quotes that tickled me:

“Leroy… I have a crab pal that shoots aura blades, a lobster companion that shoots blasts from his claws like an anime protagonist, and an otter friend that rides the lightning like some sort of Metallica fangirl.”

"If you think that’s good, wait until I cook up Asano’s recipe—it takes a little more time, though.” “Whose recipe?” I smiled wistfully. “A fictional character from my home world."

Then, with absolutely no warning, she shook her entire trunk forward and back, nodding her tree body like it was a head.

"Lieutenant Colonel Lemony Thicket’s canopy shook in anticipation."

Wonderful

A fantastic continuation to the series with some fun twist and turns along the way, and even more friends joining the group.

Laidback, fun, slice of life continues… and it’s great!

If you liked the first book you will be sure to enjoy this one as well. Fun story, great performance, and tons of elaborate descriptions of how magic fish taste. The cast of crazy characters expands and the fishing continues. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. I can’t wait for more!

What a tail has been spun

If you're into clean fishing fun with a real of a tail. Then you will enjoy the cast and hook of a story in book two. Truly enjoyable.

Amazing

Very good book, great performance by Heath Miller. I pre-ordered book 3 already. I expect my least favorite part for book 3 is that its length is not listed reaching 20hrs or more.

Better than the 1st book!

Another great book in this series! I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say this book was great. Lots of humor, cool references that I actually got! And the narration is top notch. Cannot wait to read the next installment of this awesome series.

funny slice of life

it is a story with little to no drama if there is it is shoved almost instantly with fun retrospective. if you want to relax for around 20 hours or more I recommend this to you.

Still like the overall story but repetitive

Still enjoyable storyline and voice narration is very good. However, no consequence for any of MC's actions throughout the entire story. The power progression is odd as well as MC seems to have a separate progression from rest of the cultivators which just involves talking out his feelings.
