Smithsonian archaeologist Rabbit Ward travels through time on sponsored expeditions to the past to secure precious artifacts moments before they are lost to history. Although exceptional at his job, Rabbit is not without faults. In a spectacular failure twenty years ago, he lost both the menorah of the second temple and his hot-headed mentee, Aaron. So, when new evidence reveals the menorah’s reappearance in 6th century Constantinople, Rabbit seizes the chance for redemption. But from the moment he arrives in the past, things start to go wrong.

One of the best Time travel novels I have read!
Reviewed: 03-25-25
I read a couple of great ones in the past that got me to want to find more and this one is the exact thing I had been searching for. I was on the edge of my seat all the way through and can not wait to read or listen to another book from this author! Narrator did a good job as well. But the material was really great. Bravo! Is this his fist book period? If so wow what a great debut!

Story
It was a day like any other. Except it was our last.... It’s on this day that Pounce discovers that he is, in fact, disposable. Pounce, a styilsh "nannybot" fashioned in the shape of a plush anthropomorphic tiger, has just found a box in the attic. His box. The box he'd arrived in when he was purchased years earlier, and the box in which he'll be discarded when his human charge, eight-year-old Ezra Reinhart, no longer needs a nanny. As Pounce ponders his suddenly uncertain future, the pieces are falling into place for a robot revolution that will eradicate humankind.

I loved this book, the viewpoint being the android Tiger was sensational, the advancement of the story was riveting from the start. I have told everyone I know who reads any science fiction or post apocalypse books to give this a read because I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. Was well worth the credit!

I could not get enough of these books. The narration was excellent and the story from master writer Brandon Sanderson was so excellent. I am sure many have compared these books to the Ender series and the comparison is apt. But where Card wrote Enders shadow and ended the alternate perspective there, in this series we got the equivalent of a Petra book and a Ding book etc.. as well. Mr Sanderson if you have ANY more ideas in this series please do not hesitate to write more!!!

Really great storey, inventive idea too.

I read a lot of science fiction and time travel. This was a great concept where the person is traveling back in time one day at a time and trying to prevent a major catastrophe. The interaction with the hacker she knew in college was really fun as one of them got more comfortable with the other, the first got less comfortable because to them this just started. It was very sad when they passed the first day of working with the hacker too. I look forward to more stories from R.A. Sinn!

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Another great book in the skippyverse!
Reviewed: 01-20-24
I was worried that I would not get to enjoy the adventures of the merry band of pirates any more after the previous book being described as the final book. I am thrilled that it did not take any longer for Craig Alanson to realize he had more stories to tell in the skippyverse. This one was every bit as good as the previous books. I do wish our friends the Jeraptha were in it more but they had an important part of the story. I would love to see a spinoff focusing on the Jeraptha but I can also imagine that its as hilarious as it is because its in these small bites so maybe it would not work. I can tell you I would buy that first book in the series though!

Mallory Viridian would rather not be an amateur detective, thank you very much. But no matter what she does, people persist in dying around her—and only she seems to be able to solve the crime. After fleeing to an alien space station in hopes that the lack of humans would stop the murders, a serial killer had the nerve to follow her to Station Eternity. (Mallory deduced who the true culprit was that time, too.)

Story
From idyllic small towns to claustrophobic urban landscapes, Mallory Viridian is constantly embroiled in murder cases that only she has the insight to solve. But outside of a classic mystery novel, being surrounded by death doesn’t make you a charming amateur detective, it makes you a suspect and a social pariah. So when Mallory gets the opportunity to take refuge on a sentient space station, she thinks she has the solution. Surely the murders will stop if her only company is alien beings. At first her new existence is peacefully quiet…and markedly devoid of homicide.

I really enjoyed this book. So much science fiction is humans with headpieces on so they are filmable. Many of the characters in this book just could not be done that way and it made it that much better. The aliens were truly alien. The entire concept was great. I had six wakes in my queue for a while and stumbled across someone raving about this book so I jumped it ahead, now I have also read the sequel and they were some of the best credits I have ever spent on here!
