This is very insightful, broad, specific, and everything I didn’t know how to ask for but that I needed. Change is only possible with lots of little components, not just willpower. Thankful for this book and the journey it opens up into both new and old concepts.

The humor in this book, the tone of voice, and the inflection that the author used was very helpful for staying engaged and remaining an active listener. Very well done! Very relatable content, helpful scenarios that are commonplace, yet not commonly dealt with in helpful ways such as is taught within this book.

Story
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

This book! Wow, while I disagree with the author on some Biblical details and beliefs, the overall or other concepts go perfectly with everything I have been learning about psychology, the brain, trauma and healing. I grew so very much as an individual and a leader, a parent, friend, human! Please listen to this book as I think that everyone should read or listen to this book. Try to consider it like a rotisserie chicken, chew the meat and spit out the bones. This author is brilliant and I pray that people will be open minded to go all the whole way through this and take notes, learn and pray through this book. Even better, go through this book together with a counselor.

I thoroughly enjoy this author and his teaching. This book was very helpful and insightful. I wish that just like the author suggested, schools and parents and teachers everywhere of every kind could grasp this so we can save our next generation. I feel like we owe the teenagers an apology, they deserve our best effort to learn and understand them as much as possible.
