The narrator had a pleasant sounding voice, and the stories seemed very believable. Also the stories were a good length, you didn’t have to interrupt them if you had to do something else because they’re typically just a few minutes long

When a family moved into their dream home, nobody ever expected the things that would happen there, or how it would affect them. This book is a true account of events the author and his family experienced in their rural Northern California home in the mid-1970's when he was young.

I liked that although the experience described is pretty crazy and would be quite terrifying at times nothing was too over the top, it was still very believable. The voice is good especially considering it’s AI, there’s just a few inflections that were off.

Relying on primary source documents and painstaking research, award-winning novelist Elaine Alphin tells the true story of justice undone in America.

I would’ve liked a bit more follow up on Leo’s family and Mary’s family after Leo’s death but overall it seems like a thorough accounting of the events.

From the acclaimed New York Times bestselling author of Chesapeake Requiem comes a gripping new work of narrative nonfiction telling the forgotten story of the mass killing of eleven Black farmhands on a Georgia plantation in the spring of 1921—a crime which exposed for the nation the existence of the “peonage system,” a form of legal enslavement established after the Civil War across the American South.

I liked that I learned something I had been ignorant to previously. I used to throw around the word peon, not really knowing what it meant. I won’t anymore, it diminishes the suffering real people endured.
Great attention to detail from the author, nice follow on the people in the story after the main events were settled
