Publisher's summary

The international best seller

"Malby-Anthony offers a book of great inspiration and wide appeal to nature-loving readers." (Publishers Weekly)

A heart-warming sequel to the international best seller The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony's wife Françoise Malby-Anthony.

A chic Parisienne, Françoise never expected to find herself living on a South African game reserve. But then, she fell in love with conservationist Lawrence Anthony, and everything changed. After Lawrence’s death, Françoise faced the daunting responsibility of running Thula Thula without him. Poachers attacked their rhinos, their security team wouldn’t take orders from a woman, and the authorities were threatening to cull their beloved elephant family. On top of that, the herd’s feisty new matriarch, Frankie, didn’t like her.

In this heart-warming and moving audiobook, Françoise describes how she fought to protect the herd and to make her dream of building a wildlife rescue center a reality. She found herself caring for a lost baby elephant who turned up at her house and offering refuge to traumatized orphaned rhinos and a hippo called Charlie who was scared of water. As she learned to trust herself, she discovered she’d had Frankie wrong all along.

Filled with extraordinary animals and the humans who dedicate their lives to saving them, An Elephant in My Kitchen is a captivating and gripping listen.

The love and dedication to saving the animals is what I loved the most.

I liked that there wasn’t and cursing, just an abundance of love for the animals and the people who worked hard to save them.

Excellent, heartbreaking, and inspirational

I was very intrigued to read this book after I had read “The Elephant Whisperer” which was written by this author’s husband. After Lawrence Anthony, Francoise Anthony’s husband died, Francoise became the owner of Thula Thula. Francoise and Lawrence built Thula Thula from very humble beginnings. Over the years, Francoise was determined to keep Thula Thula open in spite of the many obstacles set before her. I love the way Francoise continued to press forward with the dream she and Lawrence had shared. A stunning story of animal survival even though being brutally hunted and treated by humans. A wonderful book to read!

A beautiful epilogue to the elephant whisperer

What a beautiful way to continue the legacy of Lawrence Anthony- through upholding the conservationist values and doing everything possible to protect and secure the future of Thula Thula and its inhabitants. My hats off to Frankie for taking on this huge responsibility and doing a wonderful job with managing Thula Thula after Lawrence’s passing away. The story is beautiful and leaves you with a deep desire to be a part of the wonderful Zulu land bush.

must listen

This book could have been 20 more chapters and I still would have wanted more. I love everything elephants. So this was an obvious choice to add to my library. This book is not only entertaining, endearing, comma enjoyful to listen to listen to, it is also highly educational. The awareness it brings is quite thought provoking. Although most people understand the importance of conservation, we may not understand the severity and extent of poaching that goes on. Through stories like these we can get a better understanding of just what our endangered species need.... And what the organizations that help them rely on.

Amazing

Luv this story. Growing up and looking at the various animals in the zoo etc. I always appreciated their beauty. After reading two books about elephants and beyond I stand in awe of the their intelligence, sense of family community and dedication. We have much to learn from the animal Kingdom.

I so desire to visit the reserve one day.
