Story
Many of the clients who end up in our respective therapist offices thought they were doing relationships right—avoiding the white picket fence, focusing on careers and experiences over babies and legally-binding documents, choosing someone after they “found themselves” first. However, like clockwork, around their early to mid-thirties, these clients show up at our door. Why? For the first time, they realize that they dislike their relationship and are frustrated by their partner but know that another break-up won’t fix things.

Best book to listen to to expand your view on a relationship

This book touched me. I found myself laughing out of relatability, yet retiring to listen when in need of strength, comfort and understanding in my own relationship. Each chapter is crafted to perfection. I love the intertwine between Vanessa’s and johns perspective. They would talk about a topic, give it structure, add their own relationship into it then give you guidance on how to work through it. It was raw, yet well composed. I found several similarities to how Vanessa and John are to my own relationship. I felt comforted in the arms of this book and wished it wouldn’t end. I hope to see Vanessa write more books as I allied with her perspective more than johns, but the togetherness and self understanding of faults and challenges is what made this book so pure and purposeful. I have recommended it to all of my friends in a relationship, because they talk about what isn’t talked about and adds reason to keep the boat afloat when you feel like you see holes. It’s honest and will listen to it more than once. Do yourself a favor and let yourself grow throughout this book!

Story
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

this book although shorter than the others, are just like her others in the since it makes you want to get up and figure everything out and become stronger and to get through it all. All with the sense that you need to do it for yourself not her.

Story
Anna Kendrick's autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle-class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood's most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick's essays offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she's experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

when you think of a celebrity you think your interested to see how their life is like our and how it is to be able to dress up and be glamorous. I think Anna wrote this as herself which meant this book was very relatable, while not being relatable at all. can't say I've been to an award show, but it both sounds fun and exhausting at the same time. listening to this book was like listening to the crazy tales of a friend, but like ine of those friends that talks alot and you don't get a word in. very enjoyable to listen, but not quite to the point where you in the conversation. i enjoyed listening about her experiences from where she started to where she is now. I think this book didnt really have a point other than her life up until this point, but i still thoroughly enjoyed it. it reminded me that anyone can write a book about their life. Anna, thanks for the reminder that we are all just normal in this world, some of us just have to lay flat in a car in a tight dress in order to not get wrinkles and then be yelled at by paparazzi. I do not envy you but enjoyed listening to you!

I heard about this book through a friend, and yes, I am one of the millions that have watched Greys anatomy, so I was curious to learn more about the writer. i thoroughly enjoyed this audio book and always looked forward to a time where I could listen to the next chapter. A year of yes isn't necessarily a self help book, but if you take it for what it is it can make you think about your life in perspective while she tells you about hers. I'm leaving this kind of bummed because it is over, and I am going to miss her cander of calling herself out, as well as her way she describes her life experiences. she wrote as if she was talking to me as a friend about her life and I enjoyed the journey with her. Her voice is very soothing and the live audio touches from her speeches were a great touch. After listening to this book, I am now rewatchimg Greys Anatomy to experience her writing through a new perspective on the show I've seen for years. Thank you Shonda for everything this book is, for everything you've become. so in other words, I highly suggest!
