Karin Slaughter continues to excel and surprise. Even though her characters continue throughout her series, the plots and stories are always completely unpredictable and fast paced. This is Why We lied had me completely absorbed from start to finish!

Karin Slaughter is my favorite author and the Will Trent series is my favorite. This story was a perfect continuation of the romance between he and Sara Linton.
Although I enjoy the Will Trent TV series, I was disappointed that the character of Will is changed so dramatically in the series. I will continue to read everything this talented woman writes!

The Blame Shifting and Historical Blame

First let me clearly state that I am a huge fan of the author and the Gabriel Allon series. Sadly every book I have read up until this one is would give 5 stars.
Frequently in previous books the Allon character professes his doubt in God and in the Jewish faith . One can only interpret that the author shares those views and projects them into his main character.
He also frequently mentions the Catholic Churches involvement in the Holocaust and alludes to his belief that Christianity is to blame for the hatred of Jews and all anti-semitism.
In this book he decided to fully declare war on the Christian church and in his long disclaimer at the end of this book he begins by stating it is all fiction and then goes into a long contradictory essay regarding why it is actually based on historical facts.
One wonders why he protests so much.
His consistent claim that the Christian Gospels are to blame for the Holocaust and the hatred of Jews appears to be switched into that instead Christians should be blamed and hated for what they did to the Jews.Needless to say it is very disappointing and although I am still a fan of the authors work, I will nevertheless be able to look at his work in the same light. As a Christian that chose to reread all of these books ( I had not read this one before.) after October 7 in my way to keep this horror in my mind and heart to stand with the Jewish people it is very disheartening to discover the authors contempt for my faith, I hope he will search his heart and perhaps reconnect with his own faith instead of spreading hate towards someone else’s.

My second listen of this author. Very much disliked the narration. Sounded like she was reading to a bunch of children. Story ok but predictable.

Can’t believe I just discussed Anne Frazier. Loved the insertion of southern charm. Some might find it corny but it definitely hit my core southern heart. Story sometimes a bit disjointed but overall an excellent listen. Definitely looking forward to more of this author. Also excellent narration.

In order to write this review. I am a totally committed Karin Slaughter fan. As extra I was totally engaged in the story only she can tell so beautifully.
Unlike other reviewers I had no issues with any political views expressed. I loved the characters that only Karin can develop into people you feel you truly know.
My one issue with this novel is her choice to romanticize suicide. It was very disturbing and disappointing to me and somewhat spoiled the ending of this otherwise thoroughly enjoyable book.

Only finished because I love Dolly! Very predictable and little to praise. Not a big fan of James Patterson’s recent work and can’t say this changed my opinion.
