Story
A bonding adventure goes horribly wrong in this gripping story of trust, survival, and motherly instincts. Karla and her stepdaughter Olivia are alone on a remote family camping trip when news of a mysterious outbreak in nearby San Francisco begins to trickle in. With little information to go on, the two women must identify the biggest threat to their safety: the supposedly deadly virus, the stranger who stumbles into their campsite, or each other.

Need More

None of the characters were all that likable but Ryan was the worst. His arrogance was jarring.
Story was a bit predictable, even the ending. From other reviews I was expecting it to be more of a cliff hanger but no…pretty clear what happened.
Would I recommend it? It was a good way to have background noise while I did laundry!

Highly recommend!

I didn’t realize this was created for a younger audience- I found it timely and authentic in its portrayal of how mental illness is experienced. The cast was perfect and the relationships between characters felt real. Eva was the one character I could easily have lived without. She added nothing to the production.
Bottom line: I would recommend!
My only issue with the production is that I wanted more episodes!

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Prepare to Lose Sleep!
Reviewed: 05-14-21
I had decided not to buy PHM simply because I was assuming (correctly as it turns out) that it would be very science heavy. Then I read an Audible review that changed my mind and have not regretted buying it not for even one second! Oddly enough, the best way I can describe it is delightful- it was terrifying, funny, poignant, exciting, informative and full of hope. Ryland Grace is a very human human- you will love him and hate him, sometimes at the same time. I have no idea if the science was correct but it never bores me.
Ray Porter is my new favorite narrator!
I want him to narrate all the books- he is fabulous! I have already added other books he reads to my wish list.
So go buy this book but prepare to lose sleep, be late for work and to sit in the driveway when you get home because you are going to want to keep listening!

Story
With the snow falling fast on a New Hampshire mansion, seven 20-somethings gather for a weekend that will change their lives irrevocably. The extravagant trip to celebrate Will and Jessica's upcoming nuptials brings together a cast of characters who know each other from Ivy League schools and childhood Upper East Side haunts. There is Lulu, an LA-based Instagram influencer; Maxie, a former Park Avenue princess, now Midwestern housewife; Yael, an ER doctor from Ohio; Rob, a colorless Wall Street trader; Will, a morality-obsessed lawyer; Jessica, Will’s perfectionist bride-to-be....

I loved this book! I cannot even begin to describe how it affected me- the story was so full of the unexpected, characters you disliked became characters you did not want to let go of, the glimpse of wealth fascinating, the very realistic depiction of the lives of a specific age group at a specific time was perfection. Without giving too much away, it was also painfully realistic in its depiction of the aftermath of trauma. Elizabeth Evans’ narration brought all of the characters to life in a way that needs to be heard to be understood. This is a book I need to own so I can listen again! Thank you, Audible, for making this available to your listeners.

Story
From New York Times best-selling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American-Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American-Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a vengeful way.

I do not usually read horror and cannot tell you why I picked this one up- maybe the cover or a review. All I can say is that it is one of the best I have ever read. The characters, the story, the history, the social commentary, the words..it grabbed me and would not let go. It will not be easy to shake the images from my mind or the words from my heart.
Thank you, Stephen Grahame Jones for creating this story and sharing it with the world.
Read it. You will not regret one minute spent in this world.

Story
January 1937. Jack Miller has just about run out of options. His shoes have worn through, he can't afford to heat his rented room in Tooting, and he longs to use his training as an specialist wireless operator instead of working in his dead-end job. When he is given the chance to join an arctic expedition, as communications expert, by a group of elite Oxbridge graduates, he brushes off his apprehensions and convinces himself to join them.

Ghost story or love story?
Reviewed: 07-03-20
Chilling, beautiful, frightening- Dark Matter was all of these. Jeremy Northam’s narration pulled me along on a journey through a man’s discovery of his own limits. His bond with the dog was so unexpected and touching and it offered a contrast to the terror invoked by whatever it was that walked the shore. I cannot say more without revealing what it is that makes this an love story so just listen for yourself. I would listen again and recommend to anyone who is fascinated by the Arctic.
Finally- Jeremy Northam was perfect. His tone and inflection and pacing changed as needed to reflect the author’s words. He was fantastic.
