I would have preferred a full length novel. I was excited to see a sequel but this feels like a little teasing snack rather than a fully satisfying meal. I hope there’s much more Oracle to come.

Performed by an ensemble cast with Joshua Jackson, Devon Bostick, and Humberly Gonzalez, Pyper's high-stakes thrill ride continues the journey of FBI agent Nate Russo as he tracks an elusive serial killer and discovers an ancient curse. This time, Russo’s unique psychic gifts and killer instincts will lead him to the secrets of an idyllic New England village, and to Dreamland—the abandoned amusement park built on something evil that refuses to stay buried.

Good story, lackluster narration
Reviewed: 08-20-21
Christopher Eccelston has a nice voice and a great accent, but the lack of any tonal differentiation between characters really detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story. He’s better suited to non-fiction books that don’t really need inflection and expression.

Story
Ted McKay had it all: a beautiful wife, two daughters, a high-paying job. But after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, he finds himself with a gun to his temple, ready to pull the trigger. Then the doorbell rings. A stranger makes him a proposition: why not kill two deserving men before dying? The first target is a criminal, and the second is a man with terminal cancer who, like Ted, wants to die. After executing these kills, Ted will become someone else's next target, like a kind of suicidal daisy chain.

Although this is a work of fiction, it is all too easy to imagine similar in humane treatment of those perceived to be mentally ill during the early 1900's. Psychiatric medicine has improved, but the stigma and shame continue to be far too common.
